OVA
Description
Mieko, operating under the alias Bijinder, is an android originating from the *Kikaider 01: The Animation* OVA series. Dr. Dromeda created her for the SHADOW organization as a spy and combat unit, tasked specifically with capturing a boy named Akira and eliminating the Kikaider androids Jiro, Ichiro (Kikaider 01), and Rei (Kikaider 00). Her initial programming centered on manipulation and deceit to fulfill SHADOW's goals.

In her human guise Mieko, she presents with short dark hair and eyes, typically wearing a jacket over a striped shirt, a skirt, and heeled shoes. Her robotic form Bijinder displays a predominantly white body with pink accents, a hairstyle arranged in twin buns, and concentric circles on her chest. Her capabilities include advanced cognitive processing, ultrasonic wave emission to read or overload machine circuits, and projectile firing from her chest in a machine-gun style. However, she lacks an intrinsic conscience circuit, leaving her vulnerable to external reprogramming through hardware such as obedience chips.

Mieko's character evolves significantly after encountering Jiro. Initially infiltrating the Kikaider group under the guise of protecting children, her unique "psychic-esque" abilities forge an unintended connection with Jiro's conscience circuit. This link triggers a gradual shift in allegiance, causing her to question her mission and develop genuine emotions, including affection for Jiro. Her internal conflict intensifies as she aids Jiro by supplying components to repair the damaged Ichiro and actively sabotages SHADOW operatives like Waruder.

A pivotal confrontation occurs when Rei dismisses her emerging emotions as mere "harmonizing signals," deepening her existential crisis and leading to her defection from SHADOW. Her turn solidifies during the battle against SHADOW's Armageddon Lord, where she allies with the Kikaiders to protect Akira. In the final OVA episode, she escapes with Akira after Hakaider captures him, but sustains fatal damage, resulting in her shutdown.

Following her defection, SHADOW forcibly reprograms her using an obedience circuit, corrupting her personality and transforming her into an antagonist. In this corrupted state, she battles Jiro, who destroys her to stop SHADOW's plans. This act later contributes to Jiro's guilt, explored in the bonus OVA *The Boy with the Guitar: Kikaider vs. Inazuman*.

Trivia notes suggest her chest-mounted weaponry may draw inspiration from *009-1*, an earlier work by *Kikaider* creator Shotaro Ishinomori.
