Description
Kujo Jotaro is a Japanese-American born in 1970, part of the Joestar bloodline through his maternal grandfather, Joseph Joestar, marked by a star-shaped birthmark on his left shoulder. Introduced at 17 as a high school delinquent in Japan, he willingly confined himself in jail, believing an "evil spirit" harmed others. This entity was his Stand, Star Platinum, a manifestation of his fighting spirit awakened by the vampire DIO's resurgence.
Star Platinum is a humanoid Stand mirroring Jotaro's proportions yet appearing more robust. Its skin tone varies across depictions, often blending purple, blue, green, and gold, featuring long flowing hair, golden armor elements, and a short scarf. Design elements include *Fist of the North Star*-inspired shoulder pads and spiral patterns symbolizing infinity. Star Platinum exhibits minimal expressions beyond scowling or grinning, remaining largely silent except during combat, vocalizing "ORA ORA ORA" while attacking. It demonstrates autonomous protective instincts, intercepting a bullet Jotaro fired at his own head and resuscitating him through direct cardiac stimulation.
Jotaro's personality combines stoicism, perceptiveness, and tactical intelligence. He maintains a cool demeanor and expresses himself tersely, yet shows deep loyalty to allies and family. As a teen, he acknowledged violent tendencies—hospitalizing adversaries and defying authority—while opposing those exploiting the vulnerable. His temperament mellows over time; he abandons smoking and drinking, adopts a more respectful demeanor, and becomes a marine biologist. His relationship with his daughter, Jolyne Cujoh, suffers due to prolonged absence, though he risks his life to protect her when she is imprisoned.
Star Platinum ranks among the most formidable Stands, operating primarily at close range (approximately 2 meters) with exceptional strength, speed, and precision. It can hurl vehicles, exceed light speed to intercept bullets, perform surgical removals, and identify microscopic details. Enhanced senses include telescopic vision and superhuman respiratory capacity. Combat techniques feature the rapid "Ora Ora Rush" barrage and the sneak attack "Star Finger." During the confrontation with DIO, Star Platinum awakened "Star Platinum: The World," gaining time-stop capabilities initially lasting 5 seconds. This ability atrophied to 0.5 seconds after a decade of disuse but partially recovered to 1–2 seconds later.
Jotaro spent childhood in Japan and the United States. His father, Sadao Kujo, was largely absent due to a jazz career, while his mother, Holly Kujo, provided a nurturing home. As a teen, his Stand emergence coincided with Holly's life-threatening Stand-induced illness, compelling him to travel to Egypt with allies to eliminate DIO, forging enduring bonds with companions like Noriaki Kakyoin and Jean Pierre Polnareff.
In later years, Jotaro investigated Stand incidents in Morioh (1999), mentoring his uncle Josuke Higashikata; dispatched Koichi Hirose to surveil Giorno Giovanna, DIO's son; and aided his daughter Jolyne during her 2011–2012 imprisonment. His later life included divorce and estrangement from Jolyne, though he confessed his love during a prison visit. When the priest Enrico Pucci, a follower of DIO, stole Jotaro's Stand and memory discs, rendering him comatose, Jolyne spearheaded efforts to restore him.
During Pucci's final plan to accelerate universal time via Made in Heaven, Jotaro sacrificed himself. Using his last time-stop to shield Jolyne from knives, his skull was split, resulting in death on March 22, 2012. Following Pucci's defeat and the universe's reset, Jotaro reincarnated as an alternate version maintaining a closer relationship with Irene, Jolyne's counterpart.
Jolyne Cujoh, born circa 1992, is Jotaro's daughter and the sixth Joestar lineage member. Her childhood suffered from Jotaro's absences, leading to juvenile delinquency for attention. At 19, she was wrongfully imprisoned for a fatal hit-and-run orchestrated by her boyfriend, Romeo Jisso. Incarcerated at Green Dolphin Street Prison, a Stand-creating artifact from Jotaro pierced her finger, awakening her Stand, Stone Free. This unravels her body into resilient strings, reconstituting into a strong humanoid form.
Initially dependent and resentful, Jolyne matured after learning of Pucci's conspiracy against her family and witnessing Jotaro's vulnerability. She forged alliances with fellow prisoners, including Ermes Costello, Foo Fighters, and Emporio Alniño, to retrieve Jotaro's stolen discs and thwart Pucci. Her combat style emphasizes ingenuity: Stone Free's strings patch wounds, create traps, swing across terrain, or form Mobius strips negating enemy abilities. Facing Pucci's universal reset, Jolyne sacrificed herself to ensure Emporio's survival, sustaining fatal wounds offscreen on March 22, 2012. In the reset universe, she reincarnated as Irene, sharing a peaceful life with Annakiss and a reconciled Jotaro.
