Description
Maximilian Jenius, known as Max, originated in Europe. He joined the United Nations Spacy as a fighter pilot at age 16. Initially assigned to Vermillion Team under Hikaru Ichijyo, he demonstrated exceptional aptitude despite limited combat experience. Max employed unconventional, highly effective piloting techniques, frequently utilizing his Variable Fighter's Battroid mode for precision shooting and excelling in marksmanship. This skill extended to flight simulators and arcade games.
Captured during a reconnaissance mission by Zentradi forces, Max facilitated Vermillion Team's escape by disguising his Valkyrie with a Zentradi uniform using stealth tactics. His combat prowess solidified when he defeated Zentradi ace Milia Fallyna in three consecutive engagements: mecha combat, an arcade simulation, and a knife duel. Max immediately proposed to Milia, who accepted. Their wedding, orchestrated by Captain Global and widely broadcast, marked the first human-Zentradi union, becoming a catalyst for peaceful coexistence.
Post-marriage, Milia piloted a distinctive red Valkyrie alongside Max's blue unit in combat. At Milia's request, Max adjusted his tactics to disable enemy weapon systems and propulsion rather than target fatal points. Settling in reconstructed Macross City after the war, they had their first daughter, Komilia Maria Fallyna Jenius, in March 2011. That year, the family helped capture a Zentradi factory satellite by presenting the infant Komilia to hostile forces; unfamiliar with human infants, the Zentradi fled in terror, causing disarray that allowed UN Spacy to secure the facility.

In the film *The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?*, an alternate depiction shows Max assuming leadership of Skull Squadron after Roy Focker's death. His initial encounter with Milia occurred during a Meltrandi assault on Earth where she sought a Protoculture artifact.
