Description
Maximilian Jenius, known as Max, began his career as a United Nations Spacy fighter pilot from Europe at age 16. Serving in Vermillion Team aboard the SDF-1 Macross during Space War I, he displayed exceptional skill in variable fighter combat despite limited real-world experience. His combat style prioritized precision marksmanship and efficient ammunition use, often utilizing Battroid mode for tactical flexibility. He demonstrated unconventional tactics, like disguising his Valkyrie in a Zentradi uniform to evade capture during reconnaissance.
His life changed profoundly through encounters with Zentradi ace Milia Fallyna. After defeating her three times—in mecha combat, a simulation arcade game, and a knife duel—he proposed marriage. Their union became the first human-Zentradi marriage, strategically broadcast to foster interspecies understanding and help end the war. Post-war, they settled on Earth and welcomed their first daughter, Komilia Maria Fallyna Jenius, in 2011. Later that year, during a mission to capture a Zentradi factory satellite, Max and Milia presented their infant daughter to hostile forces; the sight of the hybrid child caused confusion and retreat among the culturally unprepared aliens, securing a tactical victory.
In the theatrical film *The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?*, Max's story diverged. He engaged Milia near Saturn's rings as she sought a Protoculture artifact. After a fierce duel inside the Meltrandi command ship, he breached her power armor's cockpit. Seeing her prompted an expression of admiration, sparking mutual attraction. During the climax against Boddole Zer's fleet, they fought together macronized in specialized blue and red Queadluun-Rau power armor, with Max notably without his glasses.
By 2045, Max commanded the 7th Macross Fleet as captain of the Battle 7. His marriage to Milia had strained, resulting in separation, though they maintained professional contact due to her role as mayor of City 7. They retained custody of their youngest daughter, Mylene Flare Jenius, while their other seven daughters lived elsewhere. Max initially opposed Mylene's involvement with the tactical sound unit Sound Force over safety concerns but relented after recognizing her piloting and musical abilities. Despite ongoing disagreements with Milia about Mylene's activities, they reconciled temporarily during the Protodeviln conflict, piloting their signature blue and red VF-22 Sturmvogel II fighters alongside Mylene in the final battle.
After retiring from active military service, Max established the flying school Jenius Air. This venture inspired his granddaughter, Mirage Farina Jenius, to become a fighter pilot. His legacy as a pioneer in human-Zentradi relations was later invoked during the 2067 conflict with the Windermere Kingdom as a symbol of conflict resolution through mutual understanding.
Max fathered seven biological daughters with Milia: Komilia (2011), Miracle (2017), Muse and Therese (2022), Emilia (2024), Miranda (2026), and Mylene (2031). They also adopted one Zentradi daughter, Moaramia Fallyna Jenius. The family name usage varied, sometimes incorporating "Fallyna" as a middle name reflecting Milia's heritage.
