Lynn Minmay was born on October 10, 1993, in Yokohama Chinatown, Japan, to Chinese father Lynn Paochun and Japanese mother Shigeyo. She later moved to South Ataria Island, living with her uncle Shaochin and aunt Feichun. While working as a waitress at their "Nyan-Nyan" Chinese Restaurant, she pursued dreams of becoming an entertainer. During the Zentradi invasion on February 7, 2009, Minmay encountered UN Spacy pilot Hikaru Ichijyo after his Valkyrie crashed near her restaurant. Subsequent events trapped them both aboard the SDF-1 Macross following its accidental space fold near Pluto. Stranded together within the ship, Minmay sang "Cinderella" to sustain hope, marking her first significant musical act during the conflict. Following rescue, she reopened her uncle's restaurant to bolster civilian morale aboard the Macross. Her career surged when she won the "Miss Macross" beauty pageant, propelling her to stardom as an idol singer and actress. Minmay starred in the film "Little White Dragon" (Shao Pai Long), performing its theme song and "My Boyfriend is a Pilot," which cemented her popularity. Her burgeoning fame strained her relationship with Hikaru, worsened by her self-centered tendencies and the influence of her cousin/brother and manager, Lynn Kaifun. During the war, her performances inadvertently affected Zentradi spies, who disseminated human culture through their fleet, fostering defections. In the decisive battle against Boddole Zer's fleet, Minmay sang "Love Drifts Away" (TV series) or "We Will Win" (Robotech adaptation), contributing to the enemy's psychological collapse. Post-war, Minmay's fame diminished amidst Earth's reconstruction. She grappled with loneliness and identity, briefly reconciling with Hikaru before acknowledging his deeper bond with Misa Hayase. After severing ties with the abusive Kaifun, she embraced her role as a cultural icon instead of seeking romantic fulfillment. In the 2012 OVA *Flash Back 2012*, Minmay performed a farewell concert in an empty stadium. Playing "Angel's Paints" on piano, she envisioned Hikaru and Misa together, signifying her acceptance of their relationship. She subsequently joined the SDF-2 Megaroad-01 colonization mission led by Captain Misa and Hikaru. The ship vanished in July 2016 near the galaxy's center, cementing Minmay's status as a vanished legend. Her character diverged slightly in the film *Do You Remember Love?*, where she was already a famous singer when meeting Hikaru. Though she developed genuine feelings for him, he ultimately chose Misa, leaving Minmay heartbroken yet resigned. In later franchise installments like *Macross 7* and *Macross Delta*, Minmay endured as a foundational cultural figure, inspiring subsequent generations of singers through her songs and wartime impact.
