Description
Garudi hails from Berudia in Crystania and serves as a devoted follower of the animal god Barbas. His defining ability is to morph into a sabertooth tiger, a power he employs in combat and pursuit of his objectives.
After Barbas's initial defeat, Garudi actively works to resurrect his deity. He attacks villages opposed to Barbas, including one occupied by the resistance group Fang of the Animal, capturing members Aderishia, Raifan, Kwairde, and Boakes. During an infiltration at Dayton Castle by Sheru and Redon, Garudi intercepts them and duels Boakes. He gains the upper hand until the castle collapses due to Barbas's unleashed power; falling debris creates a hole through which Garudi plummets, temporarily removing him from the conflict.
Following this setback, Garudi intensifies efforts to secure Barbas's return. He systematically destroys villages housing users of the Chaos Rings—artifacts capable of defeating Barbas—and shatters all but one ring. He coordinates with fellow follower Muha to sound the Bell of Awakening, discovering that Crystanian natives crystallize upon touching it, a risk Muha concealed. When an outsider sounds the bell, reviving Barbas, Garudi witnesses the battle between his deity and the God Killing Dragon Lord. During this conflict, a large pillar-shaped rock, bearing the image of the deceased Muha, falls from Barbas's floating throne room and pierces Garudi, resulting in his demise.
His portrayal exhibits significant differences between adaptations, particularly comparing the OVA to other media like novels and manga.
