Description
El Anciano, also known as Ancient One or Kaosu, is a powerful monk from the Kanto region who lived roughly 1,150 years ago. After banishing the demon emperor Talpa's spirit to the Nether Realm, he forged nine mystical armors from Talpa’s shattered remnants. Aware of their latent evil, he divided the armor into nine suits, each imbued with a Confucian or Bushido virtue to counter corruption: Righteousness/Benevolence (Wildfire), Grace/Courtesy (Halo), Trust (Torrent), Justice (Hardrock), Wisdom (Strata), Loyalty (Ogre/Spring), Obedience (Jackal/Winter), Piety (Snake/Autumn), and Serenity (Spider/Summer). He entrusted these to nine families for safekeeping until needed to defend the Mortal Realm.
Acting as mentor to the five Ronin Warriors, he bestowed their armors at least a year before Talpa’s 20th-century return. His guidance persists beyond physical death, aiding them spiritually. Clad in traditional monk robes with a face-obscuring straw hat and wielding a mystical staff, he embodies seriousness and dedication to protecting the Mortal Realm, sacrificing his life to enable the Ronin Warriors' assault on Talpa’s castle. He shows compassion toward Talpa’s corrupted followers, reaching out to Anubis during the warlord’s crisis of loyalty and sensing inner turmoil within Suzanagi, though unable to intervene.
He harbors guilt for drawing the Ronin Warriors into the conflict. To unlock their armors’ potential, he dispatches each to an elementally aligned location: Kento to Mount Aso for earth, Sage to Catasota Gulch Pinnacles for light, and Cye to the Sea of Toyama for water. His mentorship includes tactical counsel, such as advising Sage on armor duality for good or evil. He lends his staff to Mia and Yuli to aid the warriors. Historically, he belonged to a mystical clan, though its details remain obscure. His actions and legacy underpin the enduring battle against the Dynasty’s forces across all media.
