Description
Sage "Seiji" Date, born June 9, 1973 (Gemini) in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, descends from the one-eyed general Date Masamune. Standing 167 cm (58 kg) initially, he matures to 175 cm (61 kg). He possesses distinctive blonde hair and pale purple eyes. Both parents are alive: his mother is an emergency room doctor, his father a kendo-practicing police officer. Primarily raised by his grandfather in Edo-period Bushi traditions, he has two sisters: older sister Yayoi, a medical student whose childhood teasing caused his discomfort around girls, and younger sister Satsuki, more relaxed and less martial.

Childhood health issues led his family to dress him as a girl based on cultural superstitions, though he remembers none of it. He rebelled, enjoying kendo but resisting its etiquette, prompting his grandfather to enforce studies in bonsai cultivation and bamboo flute for discipline. An accident with the family's sacred sword broke a bonsai, which he concealed with a tulip. Elementary school peers feared his eyes; Yayoi suggested covering one eye to ease their fear, also dressing him in ribbons and taking photos. Junior high saw him as kendo club vice-president, then president. A tournament opponent cheated by throwing debris; Seiji's covered right eye lessened the impact. Enraged, he violated etiquette by knocking off the opponent's mask, resulting in disqualification and basement confinement. This punishment led to his discovery of the mystical Halo Armor. He was later exonerated by the opponent's confession.

Formal, mature, and intensely averse to lies and evil, Seiji is typically calm and strategic in battle but prone to rage when provoked. He practices kendo, avant-garde bonsai, bamboo flute, cycling, and follows F1 Racing. Among his fellow warriors, he shows fierce loyalty to leader Ryo Sanada, often shielding him, and develops a close friendship with Rowen Hashiba, sharing living quarters. He is perceptive about team dynamics and expresses concern for non-combatants like Mia and Yuli accompanying them into danger, prioritizing observation and planning over impulse.

During Talpa's initial Dynasty attack on Tokyo, Seiji arrives. Temporarily separated, he becomes stranded at his armor's power source, The Pinnacles, until Ryo rescues him. He later defeats warlord Sekhmet, using his sword to restore Ryo's eyesight. Accompanying Mia to search for Kento Rei Fuan, he protects her from wolves and rescues Kento from petrification by warlord Kale. Confronting warlord Dais, his insight reveals Dais's illusions, though Kento, influenced by them, temporarily attacks him. In the Gaiden OVA, accepting a sword authentication request in New York leads to his capture by the spirit Shikaisen and a mad scientist. His manipulated Halo Armor commits crimes, including murder, until freed by the other warriors, leading to his direct battle with Shikaisen. By the Message OVA, his physical maturation is evident, adopting refined civilian attire including purple ascots and tailored jackets.

The Halo Armor (Korin), embodying Rei (Grace/Wisdom), draws power from light. Its primary weapon is a nodachi blade with a shuriken-decorated hilt, wielded for his signature "Rai Ko Zan" (Thunderbolt Cut/Lightning Strike), manifesting as concentrated light or energy slashes. Passed down through the Date family, Seiji located it in their basement after the kendo tournament incident. The armor grants enhanced strength, speed, endurance, and environmental resilience. Combining powers with other warriors for collective barriers reduces his individual energy. His role evolves from a disciplined warrior to a strategically vital team member, consistently embodying his virtue through personal and collective challenges.
