Description
Tristán, born Shu Rei Fuan, hails from a wealthy Chinese-Japanese family in Yokohama where his parents run a successful restaurant. As the eldest of five siblings—sisters Rinfi and Chun Fa, and brothers Mei Ryu and Yun—he was raised with humility and respect despite the family's affluence. Both parents, skilled kung fu practitioners, trained him from childhood.
His powerful sense of justice ("Gi") surfaced early during an incident defending his younger brothers in the family storehouse. This act awakened a mystical pearl inscribed with the character for "righteousness," which reacted solely to his touch and marked his connection to the Kongo armor.
Boisterous and fiercely justice-driven, Tristán exhibits impatience with moral weakness. Though outwardly cheerful and optimistic, he harbors profound loneliness, often feeling admired rather than genuinely befriended. He possesses exceptional physical strength even without his armor, capable of feats like halting speeding vehicles, coupled with a notably vast appetite.
He wields the earth-aligned Kongo armor, embodying the virtue of justice. Its primary weapon is the versatile Kongo Tsue, a three-section staff adaptable for offense or defense. His signature ballistic attack, Gantessai (Rock Iron Crush), channels terrestrial energy to unleash seismic force capable of demolishing structures. The armor significantly amplifies his innate physical power, making him the strongest among his peers.
His loyalty and protective instincts are central during the conflict against Arago/Scorpio. A pivotal moment of disillusionment prevents him from summoning his armor; he regains this ability through righteous fury triggered when witnessing his friends endangered, particularly young Jun Yamano whom he shields from harm.
Later, during confrontations involving the Kikoutei (Inferno Armor), Tristán is captured attempting a rescue, only to be freed by Ryo Sanada's intervention. He subsequently contributes his energy to empower Ryo's transformation into the unified warrior against Arago.
The OVA *Message* introduces an upgraded variant of his armor, though its specific capabilities remain undefined.
Beyond battle, he maintains close bonds with comrades, notably rooming with Shin Mouri (Jorge) and sharing activities like surfing. His deep familial devotion and friendships underscore his unwavering commitment to protecting others, intrinsically aligned with his foundational virtue of justice.
