Description
Hector, known in the original Japanese version as Ryo Sanada, is the central protagonist. He is a teenager who serves as the de facto leader of the five legendary armor bearers. His early life was shaped by isolation, as he was born in the mountainous region of Yamanashi. His mother died when he was very young, and his father, a wildlife photographer often away on assignments, was largely absent. This upbringing fostered in him a deep connection to nature and a strong sense of self-reliance, but also made him socially awkward in urban environments.
In his youth, Hector was trained by a mysterious monk named Kaos, a mentor who prepared him for an impending supernatural conflict. During this time, he formed a powerful bond with Byakuen, a mystical white tiger who would become his constant companion and a member of his family. Hector possesses a cheerful yet fiercely protective personality. He is defined by his honesty and a tendency to confront challenges directly, which often manifests as impulsiveness and a stubborn refusal to retreat. He has a strong habit of pushing himself too far in battle, sometimes leading to unnecessary injury, driven by an overwhelming need to protect others. Despite his role as a leader, he is uncomfortable with formal events like interviews and prefers outdoor activities such as hiking. He is known to dislike lukewarm baths.
Hector fights with the Armor of Wildfire, which is red in color and draws its power from flames and heat. This armor makes him immune to extreme temperatures and is tied to the guiding virtue of Jin, or benevolence. His primary weapons are a pair of katana known as the Swords of Wildfire, which can be connected at the hilt to form a double-bladed weapon. His signature finishing move is the Sou En Zan, or Twin Flame Slash, which creates a massive column of white-hot energy to strike down his enemies.
As the story progresses, Hector obtains a significantly more powerful set of armor known as the Armor of Inferno. This white armor does not have its own guiding virtue and requires the combined energy of the other four warriors' armors to be summoned. Its power is legendary, said to be capable of destroying a planet. Initially, this immense power is unstable and uncontrollable, pushing Hector into a berserk state and placing great strain on his original swords. He later acquires the Swords of Fervor, which are strong enough to channel the Inferno Armor's energy, allowing him to unleash an even more devastating attack, the Rage of Inferno.
Hector's role in the story is that of the primary fighter against the forces of the Nether Realm. His early battles are marked by reckless solo actions, such as confronting Dynasty soldiers alone, which forces him to learn the value of teamwork.
