Description
Flint—originally named Genshi—hails from roughly 100 million years BC, living as a young caveboy alongside his father, Rocky Hammerhead. While defending the Time Shifter Getalong from the antagonist Petra Fina, both were fossilized by her technology. They remained preserved until twins Sarah and Tony Goodman discovered their fossils in the 25th century. Dr. Bernard Goodman restored Flint to flesh and blood, but Rocky could only be partially revived as a sentient, talking stone. Dr. Goodman shaped Rocky into a stone axe that Flint wields as both a weapon and a means of communication.

Physically, Flint resembles a small boy with scruffy black hair swept into a single thick ponytail. His ears are noticeably pointed. He typically wears a red fur outfit fastened over one shoulder and simple leather shoes secured around his ankles, later adding a belt after joining the Time Police. Flint possesses unnatural physical strength and endurance for a caveman, which manifests most powerfully when defending friends. This strength demands substantial food intake; he weakens significantly when hungry. His primary tool is the Rocky Hammerhead axe, capable of emitting beams to fossilize or defossilize objects and growing larger for combat.

Personality-wise, Flint exhibits profound optimism, innocence, and a persistent desire for friendship. This pure-hearted nature allows him to form bonds with Time Shifters, playing with them before missions. His sincerity breaks Petra Fina's corrupting influence, reverting Shifters from monstrous "Con forms" to their original states or empowering their "Master forms." He consistently sees goodness in others, even adversaries, proving pivotal in redeeming the Dark Lord. However, his naivety leaves him unfamiliar with modern concepts like time travel, baths, or war. He struggles to comprehend human malice, tearfully rejecting the concept of warfare during a confrontation.

Professionally, Flint serves as a Time Detective for the 25th-century Time Police. His missions involve traveling through history to locate and befriend Time Shifters before antagonists can exploit them. Though enthusiastic, he often lacks focus and professionalism, becoming easily distracted. Companions Sarah and Tony Goodman typically handle strategy, while Flint contributes through combat and emotional connections with Shifters. A robotic Pteranodon named Pterry accompanies him, erasing memories to preserve history.

Flint's development centers on relationships and unwavering idealism. Early episodes establish his protective loyalty, like tearfully intervening to save Jitterbug. His bond with Merlock Holmes evolves from hostility to mutual respect, especially when defending Merlock from mind control. His persistence in befriending Petra Fina and the Dark Lord culminates in the latter's redemption when Flint dislodges the villain's power-granting mask. Post-series, he continues pursuing Petra through time, resolving conflicts through empathy.
