Description
Wendy Ryan is a 15-year-old Australian psychiccer wielding wind manipulation. Originating from Australia, her personality is cheerful, vibrant, and optimistic. Her primary motivation is the disappearance of her older sister, Chris Ryan, a researcher studying psychic powers. Chris ceased communication after leaving to conduct research abroad, prompting Wendy to begin a search. This quest leads her to respond to Keith Evans' telepathic broadcast, hoping for clues about her sister.
Her wind powers grant exceptional speed and unrestricted aerial mobility, making her the fastest character. Her signature techniques include Mirage Step, a teleport dash for evasion and mix-ups, and Silpheed Dance, an install enhancing her mobility. She employs wind-based attacks like Vortex Stream, featuring a large, aimed hitbox and high damage, and Earth Gale to restrict opponents' movement. However, her close-range combat effectiveness is limited by the shortest normal attack range and a lack of reliable combos, forcing reliance on reads and PSY moves for significant damage.
Her story involves confronting adversaries while searching for Chris. Early encounters include escaping the magician Genma, defeating the cyborg Gates, and unmasking an imposter posing as her ally Emilio. During her journey, she encounters Sonia, a blue-haired combat bioroid serving Keith within NOA. In NOA's deepest halls, Keith reveals Sonia is actually Chris, kidnapped and transformed into a bioroid by Wong. This revelation occurs after Wendy defeats Keith, who states Sonia perished. Overwhelmed by grief and rage upon learning Wong orchestrated her sister's transformation, Wendy confronts and defeats him. In Sonia/Chris's storyline, the sisters recognize each other during their fight. Chris renounces her Sonia identity and loyalty to Keith, but notes her systems are programmed to fail should Keith die.
In Psychic Force 2012, Wendy exhibits a calmer, more subdued personality following NOA's destruction and separation from allies Burn and Emilio. Her unresolved grief over Chris/Sonia persists, compounded by new objectives: locating the missing Burn and Emilio, and confirming whether Sonia truly was Chris. She faces pursuit from Neo NOA operatives, the psychiccer hunter Might, and a brainwashed Emilio serving the Army faction. Her determination remains focused on rescuing Emilio and exploring her developing feelings for Burn.
Wendy shares significant relationships. She treats Emilio with protective affection, considering him a younger brother figure. Her bond with Burn Griffiths deepens, with her 2012 story acknowledging quietly budding romantic feelings. The central tragedy involving Chris, transformed into Sonia, results in profound emotional trauma, shifting her vibrant optimism into driven intensity across the series.
