TV-Series
Description
Known as both Faceless and the Faceless Commander, this enigmatic leader heads the automaton cyborg faction Shirogane-O. He embodies the third and final incarnation of Bai Jin, having previously existed as Sadayoshi Saiga. After acid exposure critically injured Sadayoshi's human body, he reconstructed himself mechanically to become Faceless, adopting this identity to advance his long-term schemes.

Visually resembling an elderly man with short silver hair, a spiked mustache, and a pointed beard, Faceless consistently wears sunglasses and a clear coat. Though human-like in appearance, his mechanical body enables unnatural facial stretching to conceal weapon systems.

Beneath a playful, comical, and easygoing exterior lies Bai Jin’s accumulated negative traits, most notably a psychotic obsession with forcing Francine look-alikes—especially Éléonore—to love him. He justifies worldwide destruction as "pursuing his dreams," exhibiting no remorse. His "Black Sun" philosophy shines brightly while scorching everything, asserting that any suffering or devastation becomes acceptable to achieve his goals. This includes triggering global Zonapha Syndrome to eliminate opposition and isolate Éléonore, ensuring she has no one to love but him. He savors sadistic satisfaction from crushing hope, exemplified when he revives the defeated Les Quattro Pioners solely to mock their past servitude to a false Francine.

Centuries of knowledge and his mechanical form grant Faceless significant capabilities. As Shirogane-O commander, he directs their forces. His alchemical and puppetry expertise allows creation and control of advanced automatons. Combat abilities include an Air Pressure Cannon for concussive blasts, a Spike Cannon firing high-velocity projectiles, an electrified Spike Arm for stabbing, and Body Wires enhancing mobility. He developed the "Dismantle" technique to target joints, instantly disabling automata or traumatizing humans. Standard automaton weaknesses affect him, including vulnerability to Shirogane blood and Aqua Vitae.

Faceless drives the series' climax: orchestrating a Sahara base confrontation at the Midnight Circus, feigning self-sacrifice to gain trust, and revealing his identity during Masaru Saiga’s Kuroga Village interrogation. There, he mortally wounds Shoji Saiga and attempts forced consciousness transfer into Masaru. Thwarted by Masaru’s resistance, he captures Éléonore, triggers a global Zonapha outbreak, and challenges Masaru to a final "game of bonds" for Éléonore’s fate. His unchanged goal—eradicating humanity to ensure Éléonore’s dependence—culminates in an airship confrontation.
