Description
**Lady Ishtar**, originating from the Mardook civilization, serves as one of their Emulators. Her singing enhances aggression in Zentradi and Meltlandi warriors under Mardook control, enabling their manipulation in warfare. Initially, she exhibits a passive and detached demeanor consistent with her role under Mardook authority. This fundamentally changes following her rescue by reporter Hibiki Kanzaki, who brings her to Earth.

Exposure to human culture causes significant shock and discomfort but also ignites intense curiosity. She develops a playful personality and begins experiencing unfamiliar emotions, particularly through interactions with Hibiki. Her journey involves discovering human traditions, music, and the concept of love songs, contrasting sharply with the Mardook's use of music solely for combat motivation. A pivotal moment occurs when Hibiki takes her to a concert by idol singer Wendy Ryder; this experience deepens her fascination with music's capacity to convey peace and affection. She forms an emotional attachment to Hibiki, further motivating her transformation.

Central to her belief system is her identification of the SDF-1 Macross as the legendary "Ship of Alus" from Mardook prophecy—an entity destined to bring peace to their civilization. This conviction drives her efforts to reinterpret her role. She alters her Emulator songs from incitements to violence into messages advocating harmony and understanding. During a critical confrontation, she sings within the Mardook flagship, aiming to communicate these ideals directly to her people. This act triggers dissent among the Zentradi forces and provokes Emperor Ingues, who orders the flagship's destruction. She escapes with Commander Feff, who confesses his suppressed loyalty to her over the Mardook regime.

Her influence culminates during the final battle over Earth. By broadcasting a song of hope and reconciliation, she disrupts Mardook forces and weakens Ingues's authority, directly enabling his defeat. This act fulfills the Alus prophecy and ends the war. Despite her feelings for Hibiki, she voluntarily departs with the retreating Mardook fleet, facilitating a resolution between him and pilot Silvie Gena. Her departure underscores her commitment to guiding her people toward a new cultural paradigm centered on peace.

Feff’s admission of feelings for her and his role in her escape highlights her impact on individual Mardook leaders. Her character development reflects a journey from instrument of control to autonomous agent of cultural change, leveraging her unique abilities to redefine Mardook society.
