Ridiculed by peers for describing these visions, she becomes convinced her perceptions are abnormal. This leads her to habitually carry a pink umbrella to block her view of the sky, preferring rainy days when her vision aligns with others. Her childhood friends Ichiko Ono and Suzume Imamura witness her distress and attempt to validate her experiences, though they cannot see the islands.
