Description
Yumemi Hidaka is a Japanese middle school student who first sees floating islands in the sky at age five. Ridiculed by peers for describing these visions, she becomes convinced her perceptions are abnormal. This leads her to habitually carry a pink umbrella to block her view of the sky, preferring rainy days when her vision aligns with others. Her childhood friends Ichiko Ono and Suzume Imamura witness her distress and attempt to validate her experiences, though they cannot see the islands. An incident where Ichiko expresses frustration over this inability further solidifies Yumemi's insecurity.

She maintains a gentle, compassionate personality but struggles with isolation due to her unique sight. This changes when Munto, the king of the heavenly Magical Kingdom, appears before her. He explains that her world and his are interconnected through "Akuto"—energy from human emotions—and requests her help to prevent his world's collapse. Initially dismissing these encounters as hallucinations, she refuses due to fear and a desire for normalcy. Her perspective shifts when she experiences visions of massive structures falling from the sky, culminating in a premonition of catastrophic tsunamis. Witnessing Munto's physical deterioration during his visits, she eventually chooses to trust him. In a critical moment, she breaches the dimensional barrier separating them to clasp his hand, channeling energy that temporarily stabilizes the heavens and allows others on Earth to glimpse the islands.

A year and a half later, environmental disasters intensify on Earth, correlating with the heavens' destabilization. Yumemi's psychic connection to Munto deepens, subjecting her to intrusive visions of his past, including his orphaned childhood and political struggles. Touching a sacred rock at a shrine, she sees him gravely injured in his world. Driven by concern, she actively seeks ways to aid him, reflecting her growing acceptance of responsibility. She confronts Munto's reluctance to involve her further, insisting she will assist despite risks. This resolve is tested when antagonists from the heavens abduct Ichiko and Suzume to manipulate her. During the ensuing confrontation, Yumemi displays unexpected defiance, rejecting threats against her friends and awakening latent abilities to protect them. Her emotional outburst inadvertently disrupts an automaton under Munto's control, demonstrating her influence over heavenly technology.

Her journey culminates in traveling to the heavens, where she witnesses the societal dependence on Akuto and the consequences of its depletion. She advocates for peaceful coexistence between dimensions, opposing those who seek to exploit Earth's energy. Throughout these events, she develops romantic feelings toward Munto, marked by visible blushes and his gradual softening toward her. By the story's conclusion, she discards her umbrella entirely, symbolizing full acceptance of her identity and role in bridging the two worlds.
