OVA
Description
Orihara Kouhei is a Japanese high school second-year student with brown short hair featuring spiky bangs and blue eyes, born on March 24. Orphaned young, he lives with his aunt yet maintained a relatively normal, outgoing adolescence with childhood friends. Kouhei exhibits a mischievous, lazy, and blunt personality, frequently teasing his childhood friend Nagamori Mizuka and transfer student Nanase Rumi. He repays Mizuka's daily efforts to wake him and get him to school with pranks like sleeping naked to expose himself or neglecting to leave her notes. He often disrespects boundaries, persistently bothering Akane Satomura despite her disinterest. Though generally unreliable, he occasionally shows initiative and underlying kindness, refusing to abandon anyone in need. He is a ghost member of the light music club, usually skipping activities to go straight home.

The death of his younger sister from illness caused severe psychological trauma and memory loss, triggering his retreat into the "Eternal World," an alternate mental reality representing unchanging stasis. His withdrawal manifests over about a week before his full disappearance, during which people in the real world gradually forget him through laser-guided amnesia rewriting memories to exclude him. His continued existence hinges on forming a strong bond before vanishing; failure results in permanent erasure.

Within the Eternal World, Kouhei confuses childhood memories of his sister and Mizuka, with Mizuka's childhood self appearing as his guide. To return to reality, he must follow this guide and strengthen a pre-disappearance connection. Resolution varies across routes: some require a deep emotional bond, others involve physical intimacy to anchor his existence. After disappearing, he may return a year later to reunite with the person who remembers him.

In the OVA adaptation, he reappears in his hometown with amnesia to fulfill childhood promises made to several girls, navigating a dreamlike atmosphere of fragmented, incomplete memories. This narrative diverges from the original visual novel by condensing and altering events from multiple character routes.
