Description
Gridman is a Hyper Agent from the Hyper World, a dimension parallel to the Computer World. His mission combats digital threats across dimensions, specifically pursuing the malevolent Alexis Kerib. During a battle within Alexis's fabricated Tsutsujidai City, Gridman suffered defeat and fragmentation. One fragment possessed Yuta Hibiki, sealing both their memories; another resided in the old computer Junk. The remaining fragments became the Neon Genesis Junior High Students: Samurai Calibur, Max, Vit, and Borr.

Appearing in Yuta's consciousness via Junk, Gridman guided him to merge and fight city-threatening kaiju. This merging enabled Gridman's physical manifestation, initially constrained by the restrictive armor of the purple-hued Initial Fighter form. This later optimized into the red Primal Fighter. His signature attack, the Grid Beam, is fired from his Accepter device.

Gridman's combat effectiveness grew through combinations with the Neon Genesis Junior High Students, who transform into Assist Weapons:
- **Max Gridman**: Combines with Battle Tracto Max, enhancing brute strength and enabling the Super Lightning Kick.
- **Buster Gridman**: Integrates Buster Borr for ranged artillery.
- **Sky Gridman**: Fuses with Sky Vitter for aerial combat.
- **Full Powered Gridman**: Combines all Assist Weapons simultaneously, granting all prior abilities and executing the Grid Full Power Finish.

The Neon Genesis Junior High Students are later revealed as Gridman's scattered fragments that gained independent sentience. They can merge without Gridman into the War God Combine Powered Zenon, emphasizing raw power over agility.

Following Alexis Kerib's defeat, Gridman restored his true form and departed Tsutsujidai. He later created adult clones of allies Anti and Anosillus the 2nd to aid other heroes. Returning to confront new kaiju, he adopted the white-armored Universe Fighter form. This form combines with the mecha Dynazenon and the entity Big Goldburn to form Rogue Kaiser Gridman, wielding the Dynamic Blade sword.

Gridman's design incorporates tokusatsu influences, with his Primal Fighter resembling Ultraman Orb Lightning Attacker. His combined forms draw from Ultraman's "Type Change" gimmick; Full Powered Gridman was designed first as the conceptual foundation.

In spin-offs, Gridman appears in *Diaclone VS. Gridman*, merging with researcher Hikari Kaizaki to battle the entity Giganter. He also features in *Gridman Dogma*, involving another Hyper Agent named Vise.

A core aspect is Gridman's existence as an energy being. This allows merging with humans but causes unintended consequences, like unconsciously creating worlds within himself—including the *SSSS.Dynazenon* setting. He expresses guilt over overwriting Yuta Hibiki's memories during possession, viewing it as a significant failure.
