Description
Theophilos serves as Head of the Village in ancient Greece, responsible for his community's welfare and decisions. When a neighboring town's mayor initiates conflict, Theophilos confronts the challenge to save his village. This draws in Demetrios, whom Theophilos pressures into athletic competitions, dismissing Demetrios' preference for pottery painting. Theophilos insists Demetrios use his athletic gifts for the village's benefit, wielding significant authority over Demetrios' actions.
Following Demetrios' journey to 1964 Tokyo and his return, Theophilos observes the application of modern Olympic knowledge within their ancient world. He witnesses the organization and execution of the Tolympics, an event inspired by Demetrios' travels. Theophilos' relationship with Demetrios shifts from pressure and dismissal to recognition and approval. This evolution culminates in Theophilos approving Demetrios' marriage to his daughter, Apollonia, signifying acceptance of Demetrios' contributions and growth. Theophilos embodies traditional village leadership and paternal authority, his development marked by a transition from demanding conformity to acknowledging individual initiative and the value of new ideas introduced from another time.
