Description
The Blind Man emerges in the anthology's third segment, "Invisible," portrayed as an elderly figure whose blindness obscures the visual world yet heightens his perception of the Invisible Man's presence, undetected by others. During a fierce rainstorm, he discovers the despondent Invisible Man seated on the street. Despite the protagonist's invisibility, the Blind Man extends compassion through an offering of food. This act unfolds near his guide dog, whose reaction to the unseen presence underscores the Blind Man's awareness. His brief but pivotal interaction grants the Invisible Man recognition and empathy, catalyzing the protagonist's subsequent heroic rescue of a baby from an approaching truck. Equipped with an umbrella and gloves, the Blind Man's obscured physical form aligns with the narrative's exploration of perception and existence.
