TV-Series
Description
Zenberu Gugu rules as chieftain of the Dragon Tusk Tribe, one of five lizardmen tribes dwelling within the wetlands. His form resembles a humanoid crocodile, towering over 2.3 meters tall, matching the stature of certain high-ranking guardians. Countless scars mark his body, testaments to extensive combat. His arms are strikingly asymmetrical; the right significantly thicker and more muscular than the left, akin to a fiddler crab. The ring finger and pinky are entirely absent from his left hand. A prominent crimson insignia of a two-headed snake is burned onto his chest, signifying his status as a traveler.
Zenberu communicates with blunt directness, displaying little patience for formality or diplomacy. He favors settling disputes through duels and displays of strength. The clashing of his teeth often obscures whether his tone is casual or threatening. Though considered a battle enthusiast, he maintains a calm, collected demeanor in combat, strategically assessing opponents before striking. He honors promises made to both allies and adversaries without fail.
Prior to the wetlands' resource war, Zenberu suffered defeat against the chief of the Sharp Edge Tribe. Driven by this loss, he embarked as a traveler seeking new experiences and greater power. His journey led him into the Azerlisia Mountains, where he searched for a month before encountering a dwarf near the surface. This meeting fostered mutual trust, leading him to the dwarven city of Feo Raidho. He settled there, learning dwarven culture and receiving martial arts training. His dwarf friend gifted him a steel halberd upon his departure. Zenberu returned to the wetlands and rejoined his tribe. Demonstrating his enhanced strength and travel-gained experience, he rose to become Dragon Tusk's chieftain through the tribe's periodic trials of strength. He stands as a unique figure among lizardmen: a former traveler who attained leadership.
When Zaryusu Shasha and Crusch Lulu visited Dragon Tusk proposing an alliance, Zenberu immediately challenged Zaryusu to a duel to test his worthiness as the wielder of Frost Pain. After losing the intense battle, Zenberu acknowledged Zaryusu's strength and attempted to convince him to take over as Dragon Tusk's chief, though unsuccessfully. He later traveled with Zaryusu and Crusch to Green Claw Village. Following the formation of the unified Lizardmen Alliance, Zenberu joined the chieftain elite unit. During the battle against the undead forces, he acted as a living shield for Zaryusu, enabling him to deliver the final blow to Iguva=41.
After the initial undead threat subsided, a new army equipped with magical weapons appeared. Zenberu accurately assessed the lizardmen's disadvantage. He joined other chieftains confronting Cocytus. When Sukyu Juju fell, Zenberu attacked Cocytus but was swiftly beheaded and killed. Following Zaryusu's resurrection, he pleaded with Ainz Ooal Gown to resurrect Zenberu and his brother, citing their combat prowess. Ainz considered the request, instructing the lizardmen to preserve the bodies. Zenberu was later resurrected alongside other lizardmen after their tribes were designated as test subjects for Nazarick's governance experiments.
Post-resurrection, Zenberu trained in Nazarick alongside Zaryusu and other lizardmen. During an invasion by worker groups, he observed battles involving Hamsuke. Later, when Ainz visited the lizardmen village seeking a guide to the Dwarf Kingdom, Zenberu was recruited due to his prior experience. However, he struggled to recall the exact mountain path. To expedite the journey, Ainz probed Zenberu's memories to locate the entrance to the dwarven city. Upon arrival, they discovered the city abandoned. Zenberu conversed with the dwarf miner Gondo Firebeard to learn about his friend's fate. The group proceeded to Feo Jera, where Zenberu assisted in measuring Zaryusu for armor before remaining behind while Ainz's group reclaimed the dwarven capital.
In subsequent events, Zenberu encountered environmental threats including a supernatural cold front driving monsters into the wetlands. When Nazarick provided aid through heatstones and military support, he remained initially hesitant but acknowledged the benefits of their intervention. During a feast, he challenged Cocytus to a duel alongside Zaryusu and Kyuku Zuzu, earning the guardian's respect despite defeat. Later, he confirmed to investigators from the Sorcerer Kingdom that some lizardmen exhibited accelerated healing, hinting at changes in the Great Lake's waters. When another mission required a guide to the Dwarf Kingdom, Zenberu volunteered after his initial choice declined. He sparred with Yuri Alpha to gauge her strength, realizing her superiority, before departing with the delegation.
In combat, Zenberu relies on brute strength and monk abilities, channeling ki to enhance his physical attributes. He employs techniques like Natural Steel Weapon to harden his claws and fangs to steel-piercing sharpness and Resistance Massive to mitigate magical damage by dispersing ki. Though he carries a three-meter steel halberd gifted by his dwarf friend, he wields it primarily to mislead opponents about his true martial prowess, lacking actual proficiency with the weapon. He also possesses a Ring of Sustenance, eliminating his need for sleep or food.
His relationship with Zaryusu Shasha is marked by deep mutual respect following their duel, prompting Zenberu to offer him the Dragon Tusk chieftainship. He frequently makes suggestive remarks about Zaryusu's relationship with Crusch Lulu, whom he teasingly calls "Plant Monster" after their first encounter, oblivious to her irritation. With Shasuryu Shasha, he sought a duel postponed due to wartime circumstances. Regarding Cocytus, he considered him considerate for allowing opponents to retreat. While loyal to Ainz Ooal Gown after resurrection, Zenberu initially resisted guiding him to the Dwarf Kingdom, fearing hostile intentions toward the dwarves. He complied only after receiving assurances of peaceful diplomacy.
