Description
Megumi Uda, nicknamed Megu-chan, operates as the Harekaze's radar operator, stationed in a small room behind the bridge where she relays information via voice tube. Her Second Class Maritime Special Radio Operator license underpins her critical role in safeguarding the ship through technical expertise. She possesses a realistic and logical mindset, favoring facts and scientific reasoning, though she experiences moments of fear, such as when startled in the dark. Her grandfather sparked her passion for technology, introducing her to amateur radios and photography and gifting her a cherished film camera she maintains as a keepsake; practical constraints aboard ship, however, require her to use a digital camera instead.

Standing 148 cm tall and wearing a distinctive X-shaped hairpin, Megumi hails from Shimoniikawa District, Toyama Prefecture. Born June 1st (Gemini) with blood type AB, she excels academically in physics but struggles with Japanese. Her hobbies remain photography and amateur radio operation, reflecting her affinity for tech and gadgets.

Curious and skeptical, Megumi particularly doubts unscientific claims like her best friend Tsugumi Yagi's dowsing abilities. Despite her skepticism, she supports Tsugumi and assists at her family shrine. She shares a fondness for curry with crewmates Akeno Misaki and Shima Tateishi, favoring authentic Indian varieties like chicken masala and keema curry eaten with naan, while disliking sugared red beans; she also enjoys Anmitsu desserts.

Notable incidents include an accidental corridor collision with Sakura Ise, resulting in an unintended face-first encounter with Sakura's chest. This led to her humorous reputation as a "breast fanatic" and a private memo ranking crew bust sizes. Another incident saw her mistake Minami Kaburagi's dissection work for a ghost in a dark room, causing a frightened scream.

Her portrayal remains consistent across official media, fulfilling her role as radar operator aboard the Harekaze II during events like the inter-high tournament and fortress hijacking incident, applying her skills without major shifts. Her adaptable outlook is captured in her catchphrase: "Adversity is good and so are favorable circumstances."
