OVA
Description
O-Kiku features in the manga story "Iyami Alone in the Wind" within the *Osomatsu-kun* franchise. A blind young flower seller in an Edo-period setting, her initial design shows closed eyes, aligning with Fujio Akatsuka's typical heroine appearances. She wears a floral-patterned kimono and sandals, her hair in a bun secured by a ribbon and golden comb. Kimono colors vary: blue with white hatch patterns, pink in the 1990 OVA, or bright yellow in pachinko adaptations.

After a man knocks her flowers aside, Iyami discovers her blindness and learns of her orphaned hardship and exploitation. He vows to fund her 937,000-yen eye surgery, undertaking grueling labor to raise the money. O-Kiku refuses young lord Wakachibi’s romantic overtures and surgery payment, trusting solely in Iyami’s promise. Wakachibi engineers Iyami’s theft of the funds, causing Iyami’s arrest. During his imprisonment, O-Kiku undergoes surgery in Nagasaki.

Four years later, sight restored, she works at a tea house. Her post-timeskip design reveals open eyes and clearer Akatsuka heroine features. She encounters a destitute, unrecognizable Iyami, stops children harassing him, and shares food while expressing gratitude for Iyami and hope to reunite. Ashamed, Iyami denies his identity and departs.

Their central relationship frames Iyami as her benefactor and father/uncle figure, her kindness driving his evolution from lazy ronin to devoted caregiver.

In *Osomatsu-san* Episode 43 ("Iyami, Alone in the Wind"), a character named Kiku (or Okiku-chan) revamps the original O-Kiku. No further traits or development are provided for this iteration.

The connection between O-Kiku and Totoko Yowai remains ambiguous: Totoko is credited as the character in some adaptations (e.g., Akatsuka Memorial Hall illustration, VHS credits), while other Fujio Pro materials treat them separately. The original manga features only O-Kiku, without Totoko.
