Despite his pride, he works alongside allies like Ecruteak City Gym Leader Morty, who acts as his voice of reason; Morty's lack of surprise at Minaki's abrupt departures hints at an established dynamic. In the anime, Minaki assists Jimmy, Marina, and Vincent against Team Rocket's Attila and Hun, attracting Marina's interest partly due to his distinctive cape. While focused on encountering Raikou, he prioritizes keeping his companions calm during crises. His quest leads him to Ecruteak City's Burned Tower, where he reflects on the beasts' resurrection legend, expressing a desire to reassure them that humans can be trusted. This persistence finally grants him a long-awaited glimpse of Suicune. Within the Pokémon Adventures manga, Minaki exhibits a showy personality, performing flashy magic tricks for women and distributing autographed pictures. An accidental confrontation with Crystal involving her Electrode leads him to declare her his rival.
