Akuroma, known as Colress, is a researcher in the Pokémon universe primarily tied to Team Plasma. He dedicates his work to unlocking Pokémon's hidden potential through experimental methods, disregarding ethical boundaries in favor of scientific results. This philosophy drives him to collaborate with groups advancing his research. During Team Plasma's resurgence in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, he assumes leadership and steers the organization toward global conquest. He openly opposes Team Plasma's founding ideal of liberating Pokémon, declaring, "Team Plasma says that all Pokémon should be liberated... But I... do not agree!" He argues human intervention is essential to unleash Pokémon's latent power, deploying inventions like the "Colress Machine" to forcibly heighten their aggression and strength. Later, in Pokémon Sun and Moon, he pursues independent research in Alola, developing fusion devices such as the N-Solarizer and N-Lunarizer—extensions of his prior work with Kyurem. He aids protagonists against interdimensional threats, adopting a collaborative yet enigmatic role. During the Team Rainbow Rocket crisis, he confronts his former superior Ghetsis, using prototype tech to protect allies while voicing explicit hatred for him. Physically, he has blonde hair, yellow eyes, and distinctive glasses, typically clad in a white lab coat and gloves. His Japanese name "Akuroma" stems from "achromatic" (colorless), echoing the etymology of his English name. He appears in the Pokémon Generations anime series.
