Description
Rot, alternately known as Rood, serves as one of the Seven Sages of Team Plasma under Ghetsis. He first appears alongside Ghetsis and fellow sages at Team Plasma's Castelia City hideout in Pokémon Black and White, departing abruptly upon the player's arrival. Later, at N's Castle, Rot and the sages confront the player, invoking justice and fate with declarations like "Superior men understand what is right. Inferior men understand what will sell" and "Constant dripping wears away the stone. I've been waiting in the abyss for this day. No one shall interfere!" Unova's Gym Leaders intervene, halting their obstruction. Following Ghetsis's defeat, Rot is found reflecting on Route 18, reckoning with Ghetsis's manipulation and N's failure to grasp human hearts. He gifts the player TM32 (Double Team) before Looker arrests him.

Years later, in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Rot resides with Anthea, Concordia, and reformed Team Plasma members in a Driftveil City safehouse. He battles the player to gauge their character, stating, "If you're going to come inside, I would like to see what kind of person you are, Trainer." Upon defeat, he acknowledges the player's bond with their Pokémon and entrusts them with N's Zorua, revealing it was a trusted companion on N's journey. Rot reappears on Route 6 after the player encounters Cobalion, expressing distress over Ghetsis's enduring malice and the resulting suffering of Pokémon. During the pivotal Giant Chasm confrontation, Rot leads the original Team Plasma faction against Ghetsis's forces to divert them, declaring, "To save our old allies, to protect Unova, we will fight!" He also provides Hugh critical information implicating the Shadow Triad in a Pokémon theft.

In the Pokémon Generations miniseries (Episode 13, "The Uprising"), Rot stands among the Seven Sages during N's Castle's rise. They collectively proclaim Team Plasma's dominance, asserting justice will prevail and opponents of fate will perish, announcing Ghetsis's imminent arrival and Unova's fall.

Rot's journey centers on evolving loyalty. Initially devoted to Ghetsis's vision, he later voices regret for Team Plasma's actions and the harm caused by their original ideals. Shifting allegiance to N's true goal of Pokémon liberation, Rot actively atones by caring for abandoned Pokémon and opposing Ghetsis's destructive ambitions. His dialogue emphasizes introspection, particularly concerning N's growth and the necessity for understanding between humans and Pokémon.
