Description
Shun Izuki serves as the vice-captain and starting point guard for Seirin High's basketball team. He has straight black hair reaching his eyes, which are typically depicted as narrow and entirely black, resembling an eagle's gaze. His athletic physique stands at 174 cm tall and weighs 64 kg, appearing less imposing than some teammates. He wears jersey number 5 during games.

Izuki began playing basketball in second grade, making him Seirin's longest-tenured player, with teammates noting his exceptional dedication. During middle school, he played alongside Junpei Hyūga. When Hyūga quit basketball after discouraging losses to the Generation of Miracles, Izuki prioritized companionship over his passion and enrolled at Seirin High despite its lack of a team. He later co-founded Seirin's basketball team with Teppei Kiyoshi, actively recruiting members including Hyūga, who eventually rejoined.

His personality balances outward calmness with an internal tendency for wordplay; he frequently makes puns ("dajare"), often irritating Hyūga. On the court, he exhibits analytical and levelheaded leadership, functioning as Seirin's strategic "control tower." He demonstrates loyalty to teammates and maintains focus during high-pressure situations.

Izuki's signature ability is Eagle Eye, granting him a panoramic view of the court as if observing from above. This allows him to track all players, devise strategies, execute precise passes, manipulate opponents into collisions, and anticipate movements. Initially, Eagle Eye had a blind spot compared to the broader Hawk Eye ability, but Izuki refined it to penetrate formidable defenses like Yōsen High's "Eagle Wall." During the Winter Cup, he further honed it to predict opponents' actions, though reaction-time limitations persisted against extreme speed.

He developed the Eagle Spear technique during the Winter Cup semi-finals, enabling him to steal the ball from behind without looking, even from faster opponents like Yukio Kasamatsu. This move relies on Eagle Eye's spatial awareness.

Throughout tournaments, opponents underestimated Izuki, notably singling him out as Seirin's "weakest link" during the Kaijō match. He demonstrated substantial growth, particularly against Rakuzan High. There, he temporarily countered Kotarō Hayama's four-finger Lightning Dribble—an achievement surpassing stronger defenders—forcing Hayama to acknowledge his skill. His predictive steal and tactical playmaking were pivotal in narrowing Rakuzan's lead. Observers noted his in-game evolution mirrored the Uncrowned Kings, and his strategic passing drew comparisons to Seijūrō Akashi.

In "Last Game," Izuki participated in the Vorpal Swords' formation against Jabberwock in a supporting role. His quote, "There are some things that can only be done by cowards," reflects his pragmatic approach to leveraging perceived weaknesses.
