Description
Izuru Hitachi is a genetically engineered teenager created for the "Majestic Prince" project to pilot Advanced High Standard Multipurpose Battle Devices against the Wulgaru alien threat. Enhanced genetics grant him exceptional concentration and survival instincts, heightening combat abilities while posing physical risks. His DNA originates from Commander Simon Gatou and Princess Teoria of the Wulgaru, making him Simon's biological son and Teoria's biological child—a half-human, half-Wulgaru hybrid. This heritage accelerates his mastery of the JURIA System, synchronizing pilot DNA with AHSMB units. Pre-military memories were erased, though he retains subconscious familiarity with Teoria.

Initially cheerful and optimistic with a straightforward desire to become a hero, Izuru exhibits naivete in social interactions yet fierce loyalty to teammates. Under combat stress or high synchronization with his unit Red 5, his personality shifts to aggression, coldness, and battle-focused intensity—once commanding teammate Kei Kugimiya to "shut up." During his final duel with Wulgaru commander Jiart, this escalates to near-total loss of self, reversed only when teammates verbally provoke him back to rationality. Off-duty, he draws manga despite peers deeming him unskilled; his ability temporarily improves during harmonic spikes linked to psychological shifts.

Piloting the all-around combat leader unit Red 5—equipped with melee weapons like a chainsaw-tuning fork—Izuru reconciles idealistic heroism with warfare's realities. Early missions show reckless protectiveness, but mentor Randy's guidance teaches him to trust his team. Physical deterioration occurs from JURIA System strain: accelerated aging and near-fatal collapses follow battles. In the finale, full synchronization awakens Red 5's final form with energy wings and overwhelming power, pushing him to death's brink. Surviving adrift in space after a gate-destroying operation, he is rescued. Later movie events depict him comatose from Jiart's injuries, eventually piloting the enhanced "Red 5 Plus" post-recovery.

Key relationships shape his journey: a brotherly bond with Toshikazu Asagi upon learning their shared paternal DNA, leading Izuru to call him "Onii-chan." Kei Kugimiya harbors romantic interest he overlooks, focusing on her supportive friendship. Tamaki Irie shares a sibling dynamic, briefly developing feelings during his altered state. Teoria becomes a protective figure as their biological connection deepens. Simon Gatou evolves from commander to a paternal figure Izuru strives to impress. Initially dismissive teammates unite under his earnest idealism during crises.
