TV Special
Description
Siebold ranks among the Kalos region's Elite Four, celebrated as one of its most formidable trainers. He specializes in Water-type Pokémon and runs a luxury restaurant as its head chef. Tall and slender with pale skin, light blond curly hair, and deep sapphire-blue eyes, his attire blends regal and culinary elements: a high-collared white-and-blue uniform evoking medieval royalty merged with chef's garb, featuring rippled edges like a scallop shell. A cerulean blue striped cravat with a teardrop-shaped jewel pendant holds his Key Stone for Mega Evolution.

He approaches Pokémon battles as an art form, comparable to haute cuisine, often employing culinary metaphors like calling battle climaxes "the main dish." This philosophy shapes his personality; Siebold is contemplative and disciplined, yet shows visible frustration towards those dismissing battling as non-artistic, sometimes labeling them "foolish children." He rarely accepts battle requests, reserving them for trainers he deems worthy.

In *Mega Evolution Special I*, Siebold encounters Alain at his restaurant. Noticing Alain's Mega Ring, he agrees to an "unofficial menu"—a battle. Siebold deploys Blastoise against Alain's Mega Charizard X, initially withholding its Mega Evolution. Despite the type disadvantage, Blastoise endures multiple assaults before Mega Evolving into Mega Blastoise. The battle culminates in Mega Blastoise's victory using Dragon Pulse, though Siebold commends Alain's skillful handling of the type mismatch. This clash later factors into Lysandre's scheme to harness battle energy for controlling Zygarde.

Within the *Pokémon Adventures* manga, Siebold prepares meals for protagonists at the Lost Hotel, framing it as an apology for his delayed response to Team Flare's threats. He passionately defends his view of battles as art, confronting Shauna when she questions the analogy. Later, he aids the group alongside Drasna and Wikstrom, supplying provisions and fighting Team Flare forces at Route 19. After Team Flare's defeat, he assists in retrieving the traitorous Elite Four member Malva.

Siebold's known Pokémon include Blastoise (anime), demonstrating Hydro Pump, Skull Bash, Dragon Pulse, and Power-Up Punch, and Clawitzer (manga). He is distinguished as the only notable Water-type specialist in the Elite Four across the Pokémon franchise and the sole Kalos Elite Four member Ash Ketchum never encounters in the animated series.

His name derives from "sea" and "Siebold's crabapple," reflecting his Water-type expertise and Kalos characters' botanical naming conventions. In Japanese, his name "Zumi" incorporates roots for water (水, *mizu*), ocean (海, *umi*), and spring (泉, *izumi*).
