Description
Chōhi, known as Zhang Fei, belongs to the Maozoku—a cat-descended community marginalized by humans and derogatorily termed "Jyuuza" due to their exclusion from the zodiac. As a full Maozoku, he shares profound familial ties with clan chief Ryū Bi and the half-human, half-Maozoku warrior Kan'u, having grown up as siblings since childhood. Chōhi exhibits fierce loyalty and protectiveness toward Ryū Bi, mirroring his destined historical role, and holds deep respect for him as a leader despite his own volatile nature.
Physically, Chōhi stands 161 cm tall with kemonomimi traits: cat ears and a tail. Though historical legends recount immense strength, this incarnation begins relatively weak, holding a C-Rank Toushi designation at Seito's Academy. Prophecies and histories, however, foretell his evolution into a warrior of legendary power capable of matching ten thousand men—a potential glimpsed when he momentarily unleashed this strength defending Ryū Bi during Kyosho's assault on Seito. In that battle, he sustained near-fatal injuries from Myosai, requiring prolonged recovery with Ryū Bi at his side.
Chōhi's personality is marked by a hot temper, combativeness, and impulsiveness, often leading to rash actions. He displays a notable fondness for snacks. In the anime adaptation, his frustration surfaces regarding Ryū Bi's perceived lack of power as Seito's leader, occasionally making him appear bossy. Yet his bonds with Ryū Bi and Kan'u remain unshaken, exemplified when protective fury enabled him to hurl Kan'u several stories high, echoing Zhang Fei's legendary "roar at Changban."
After recovering from his injuries, Chōhi was later seen dining with Kōchū, hinting at a potential romantic connection. His character development retains the historical Zhang Fei's core loyalty and ferocity while weaving in his Maozoku identity and relationships.
