Azuki Hie is a Kyoto private investigator tackling monster-related cases. She works alongside her boss, investigating supernatural occurrences. Due to limited professional effectiveness, they often handle lower-level police work when cases are inactive. Azuki possesses a unique supernatural ability: she can sense magatsuhi, corrupted beings born from impurity. During one investigation, she encounters Mebuki Konoe, the magical girl representing Kyoto. For unexplained reasons, Azuki feels a spark of recognition towards Konoe upon their meeting.
