Description
Naruko Aoba acts as Miyagi Prefecture's magical girl representative. She began as a typical Miyagi middle school student, often helping tend rice paddy fields near her home. Her transformation happened accidentally when she encountered the familiar Takesuzume, initially mistaking it for a farm pest. Takesuzume's magic struck her, instantly granting her magical abilities. This sudden change made her reluctant to accept the role, partly due to her outfit resembling cosplay and her perceived lack of resolve for sealing Magatsuhi, the corrupted beings formed from impurity. Despite these reservations, her determination to protect her hometown drives her to continue her duties while balancing studies.

Her personality is bright and positive, marked by occasional airheadedness. This surfaces during missions, like arguing aloud with the invisible Takesuzume in public, causing misunderstandings. One incident involved her being scolded by a police officer for crossing against a red light while chasing Magatsuhi. Takesuzume's subsequent yelling and Naruko repeating his insult toward the officer led to her arrest for suspicious behavior, illustrating early struggles with coordination and public perception.

In combat, Naruko wields Tanikaze, a large kokeshi-shaped mace capable of sealing Magatsuhi. The weapon's significant weight slows her movements, but she compensates by using its ball-and-chain attachment to extend her reach and engage enemies from a distance. Her fighting style remains unrefined early on, reflecting her newness to the role.

Her design incorporates cultural elements from Miyagi Prefecture. Her headpieces resemble Tanabata festival decorations, while details on her sleeves, shoes, and dress mirror the prefecture's official seal. Her name also derives from local festivals: "Naruko" references a wooden percussion instrument from the Michinoku Yosakoi Festival, and "Aoba" ties to the Sendai Aoba Festival.
