Description
Chitaru Namatame stands tall with a princely demeanor, her short red hair and crimson eyes accentuating a mature presence that belies her 15 years. She dresses in a black blazer edged with yellow lining, a crisp white long-sleeved shirt, gray trousers, and polished black shoes, embodying an air of dignified resolve. Driven by loyalty and a thirst for justice, she enters Class Black not for the bounty on its target but to unmask Angel Trumpet—the assassin who killed her mentor’s daughter. Her moral compass steers her away from targeting Haru Ichinose, focusing solely on her vendetta while shielding younger classmate Hitsugi Kirigaya, whom she grows to love.

A master swordswoman, Chitaru’s skill rivals Tokaku Azuma’s, her callused hands testament to relentless training. Her quest fractures when Hitsugi is revealed as Angel Trumpet. In the manga, she confronts this truth alone, choosing “justice” over “love” by stabbing Hitsugi. The anime diverges, depicting her improvising during a school play before attacking, omitting the symbolic choice. Both versions culminate in a staged mutual demise, expelling them from Class Black.

Saved by Hitsugi’s antidote, Chitaru endures prolonged bedrest from residual poison. Their recovery becomes a fragile dance of guilt and affection, culminating in a shared resolve to coexist—a balance between her unwavering ideals and newfound emotional ties.

Chitaru’s past remains shrouded, her origins untethered to family. Before Class Black, she attended Fukutsuchi Academy, frequented museums, adored strawberries, and scorned eggs. The kanji in her name echo vitality (“生田目”) and motion (“千足”), mirroring her tenacious, forward-driven spirit.
