Description
Suzu Shuto originates from Japan's Meiji Restoration era. Afflicted with Highlander Syndrome, she remains physically a teenager despite being over 100 years old, facing the constant risk of sudden bodily collapse. Her childhood featured a significant bond with Takeo, born one day after her on July 15. As Takeo aged and eventually married another while Suzu remained unchanged, she endured the repeated loss of loved ones across generations.

She enrolled as an assassin in Myojo Academy's 10th Year Class Black, bearing attendance number 7. Her mission target was Haru Ichinose, with the reward being a cure for her condition, allowing her to age and die normally. Physically, Suzu possesses light-blue hair and yellow eyes. She typically wears the class uniform: a black dress shirt with pink plaid accents, a matching skirt, and white sneakers, consistently accessorized with a dark blue headband.

Suzu shares Room 2 with Kouko Kaminaga. They bond over shogi and library visits, where Suzu assists Kouko in locating a fabled "book of happiness," inscribing both their names inside it. During the Venus Festival, Suzu plays Juliet's nanny in the class play and engages in philosophical discussions with classmates. Her keen observational skills uncover secrets about fellow assassins, such as Otoya Takechi's identity as a serial killer.

Her assassination attempt occurs at the school pool. She places an elaborate timed explosive collar on Haru, requiring a four-digit code deciphered through hidden playing cards, with only three attempts permitted. After Tokaku Azuma and Haru retrieve three cards, Suzu reveals her agelessness and desire for the cure. She sacrifices the final card to save Tokaku from a trap, leaving Haru with only two attempts. Tokaku deduces the code relates to a birthday; Haru correctly identifies it as Takeo's (July 15), defusing the collar. Suzu acknowledges her defeat, noting the choice honored her past, and is subsequently expelled. A red tulip—symbolizing a "declaration of love"—later appears on her desk.

Following her expulsion, Suzu visits Takeo's grave, resolving to cease dwelling on the past. In supplemental stories, she encounters a wounded Kouko fleeing her assassin clan. They begin living together as Suzu's body nears its deterioration point. Expressing a wish to leave proof of her existence, she prompts Kouko to vow to outlive her. Suzu accepts her mortality, finding purpose in her remaining time.

Personality-wise, Suzu displays calmness and wisdom, preferring intellectual challenges over brute force due to her physical limitations. She employs older speech patterns and the pronoun "washi," reflecting her longevity. Though often cheerful and supportive—offering advice to peers like Kirigaya—she harbors deep loneliness and melancholy from outliving everyone she cherished. Her assassination attempt emphasizes entertainment and fairness, and she shows genuine concern for classmates, particularly Kouko.

Her skills encompass strategic planning, shogi expertise, and swimming proficiency. Lacking combat abilities, she excels in crafting intricate traps, commissioning the bomb collar from Kouko after her expulsion. She was born in July (the 7th month), held attendance number 7, and was expelled in Episode 7. Her birthday is on the 14th (7×2). Suzu sleeps 10 hours nightly, favors the sweet suama, and avoids meat.
