Description
A Mythical Pokémon intrinsically linked to music and dance, this Meloetta once resided within the Abyssal Ruins alongside Ridley's ancestors, safeguarding the Reveal Glass artifact. Facing escalating attacks targeting the Reveal Glass's power, Meloetta sealed the ruins and fled with the guardian tribe to a peaceful forest sanctuary.

It lived within the forest village for many years, forming a bond with Ridley as he matured. Team Rocket eventually captured Meloetta. Ridley intervened, but Team Rocket escaped via helicopter. Meloetta freed itself using invisibility, forcing its captors to renew their search.

Meloetta exhibits distinct personality traits across its two forms. In its default Aria Forme, it displays profound shyness, often hiding from strangers due to its past trauma, though it warms to trusted individuals. This form exhibits feminine traits and prefers soothing others with song. Using the move Relic Song transforms it into the Pirouette Forme, becoming a capable, confident battler willing to confront much larger opponents.

This Meloetta controls emotions through its melodies, inducing happiness or sadness in listeners. Its songs inspire art and music across regions, and it actively uses this power to resolve conflicts, such as calming disputes between Ash's Oshawott and Dawn's Piplup or halting a fight between Axew and Scraggy during the Melody Berry search. Its singing can unseal ancient structures like the Abyssal Ruins, an ability it initially restrained.

A strong bond developed with Ash during its journey. Meloetta followed him and his friends, showing pleasure at his Virbank City Gym victory. This connection lowered its guard, leading it to sing the full song unsealing the Abyssal Ruins on a seashore, an event Team Rocket recorded. Oshawott and Piplup both developed affections for Meloetta, frequently competing for its attention.

Meloetta demonstrates the ability to channel energy controlling the Therian Formes of the Forces of Nature (Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus), though this causes it significant pain. During a crisis, its song eventually calmed the rampaging trio after multiple attempts, foiling Giovanni's plan and forcing Team Rocket's retreat.

In the Pikachu short "Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade," Meloetta prepared for its annual Lunatone Rock performance. Under the full moon, it grew the Melody Tree bearing Melody Berries that enhance its song. A Team Rocket-induced Sandstorm disrupted the concert, scattering the berries, prompting Pikachu and others to search for them to resume the performance. During this event, Meloetta used its single recovered berry to soothe Axew and Scraggy when their stomachs growled, revealing its nurturing side.

Following its adventures with Ash and the thwarting of Team Rocket's plans at the Abyssal Ruins, Meloetta reunited with Ridley and returned to reside with him in the forest village.
