Megumi Nakajima
Description
Megumi Nakajima is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on June 5, 1989, in Ibaraki Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Stay Luck. Nakajima's career began after she won the "Victor Vocal & Voice Audition" in 2007, an audition held by music company Victor Entertainment to cast the lead singing role for the new television anime series Macross Frontier. This victory launched her career, providing her debut role as Ranka Lee, for which she provided both the speaking and singing voice.
Her performance as Ranka Lee brought her immediate recognition. She made her first professional appearance at the Macross 25th Anniversary Concert in April 2007 and released her debut single, Seikan Hikō, in June 2008. For this performance, she won the award for Best Musical Performance at the 3rd Seiyu Awards in 2009. This role established her as a prominent figure in the industry and closely associated her with the long-running Macross franchise, leading to her reprising the role in subsequent films and projects.
Throughout her career, Nakajima has built a substantial portfolio of anime voice roles. Some of her notable parts include Kaede Sakura in Kämpfer, Lyra in Fairy Tail, Yuzuki Eba in A Town Where You Live, Megumi Aino / Cure Lovely in HappinessCharge PreCure!, and Tuuli in Ascendance of a Bookworm. She has also voiced characters in various other series, such as Kororo in Shaman King, Ayano Usami in Asteroid in Love, Mii in Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō, Julie in Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, and Kinugasa in the Kantai Collection franchise. Her role as Yō Kasukabe in Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they? is another key credit. Beyond acting, she is also the voice provider for the popular Vocaloid software Megpoid.
In addition to her voice acting, Nakajima has maintained an active music career. She has released multiple singles and albums under the record label Flying Dog. Her songs have been featured as theme music for several anime series in which she has acted, including Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne, Kotoura-san, and Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou. In late 2013, Nakajima announced an indefinite hiatus from her solo music career to focus on her voice acting, which began in 2014 after a final album and concert. She returned to singing in 2017, providing theme songs for anime like Fuuka and Recovery of an MMO Junkie.
