Movie
Description
Megumi Aino is a fourteen-year-old second-year student at Pikarigaoka Middle School who becomes the Pretty Cure known as Cure Lovely. She lives with her mother Kaori, who has a weak constitution, while her father Masaru works abroad as part of an NGO. Megumi is a lively and energetic girl with an overwhelmingly optimistic and outgoing nature. She has a strong desire to help anyone in trouble, often acting on impulse without fully thinking through the consequences. This tendency stems from her childhood experiences of caring for her ill mother, which instilled in her a need to be useful to others in order to feel loved and valued, a trait sometimes described as a Messiah complex. She is quick to make friends and deeply cares for those close to her, though she often neglects her own needs and happiness in the process.

In the film, Megumi and her fellow Cures—Hime Shirayuki, Yuko Omori, and Iona Hikawa—assist with a puppet show at a nursery and encounter a living doll named Tsumugi, who pleads for help for her homeland, the Doll Kingdom. Megumi’s innate compassion drives her to follow Tsumugi into the kingdom, where she learns that Tsumugi has lost the use of her legs in the real world and has been deceived by the antagonist Black Fang. Megumi’s role in the story is to help Tsumugi see that happiness can come from sources other than dancing alone, and to inspire her to turn her despair into hope. Throughout the film, Megumi’s unwavering determination and her ability to connect with others’ emotions prove crucial in breaking Black Fang’s hold over Tsumugi and ultimately defeating him.

Key relationships include her partnership with Hime, who initially struggled with confidence but is supported by Megumi’s encouragement. Megumi is also close to her childhood friend Seiji, who often acts as a grounding influence and worries about her reckless behavior. She develops a romantic crush on Blue, the spirit of Earth, though her feelings are not reciprocated. Over the course of the series and into this film, Megumi undergoes personal growth as she confronts her tendency to sacrifice her own well-being for others. She learns that true love and happiness involve caring for herself as well, and that helping others does not mean ignoring her own limits.

As Cure Lovely, Megumi wields the LovePreBrace and is skilled in both close-range combat and energy-based attacks. Her fighting style is fierce and inventive, often incorporating improvised techniques such as optic beams, rocket punches, and flame attacks. She has two primary form changes: Cherry Flamenco, which emphasizes passionate dance-infused combat, and Lollipop Hiphop, which focuses on rhythm and agility. In the film, she attains the Super Happiness Lovely form, an enhanced state powered by the hope and support of others, which she uses to deliver the final blow against Black Fang. Her abilities are fueled by her strong emotions and her belief in the power of love and friendship, making her a versatile and formidable fighter despite her sometimes reckless approach.
