Description
Rie Kaisho is the daughter of Rinroku Kaisho, a wealthy and influential figure controlling a vast surveillance network in a post-war dystopian Japan. Her mother died when she was three, fueling suspicions she later investigated alongside detective Shinjuurou Yuuki. Despite her privileged upbringing, she developed an open-minded yet stubborn personality. She strongly disapproves of her father's tendency to cover up conspiracies and manipulate information to preserve public comfort, preferring the truth be revealed. However, she demonstrates a willingness to exploit legal loopholes for her purposes, like strategically using horseback riding to circumvent restrictions.

She takes initiative in investigating cases independently, unlike others who wait for official involvement. Rie first encounters Shinjuurou and his supernatural partner Inga during a murder case at a private party, sparking her ongoing interest in their work. This interest leads her to actively recruit them for later investigations, such as a death in the "Masked Mansion" incident, demonstrating her proactive approach to uncovering truths official channels might obscure.

In the prequel film "Un-Go episode:0 Inga-ron," Rie appears briefly bringing coffee to her father. Rinroku questions if she is interested in Shinjuurou; she dismissively claims he is "not her type" before sighing and leaving the room, hinting at a complex, possibly unacknowledged fascination with Shinjuurou's truth-seeking, contrasting her father's methods. Rinroku is later shown observing the supernatural entity Bettenou via surveillance footage in this scene, though Rie is not involved.

Her personal style features elaborate 19th-century European-inspired outfits influenced by manga depictions of historical fashion, though about half her wardrobe fits poorly. At home, she wears casual attire like a pink sweatsuit with white lines. Skilled in horseback riding, she maintains a repertoire of disguises for investigations. Her character arc revolves around moral opposition to her father's actions and growing alignment with Shinjuurou's truth-seeking mission, positioning her as a bridge between the establishment's curated narratives and the hidden, uncomfortable realities beneath.
