Sayaka Hoshino begins as a shy, unconfident 13-year-old secretly passionate about acting, often reenacting television dramas alone. Her family overlooks this interest due to her parents' frequent work absences. Hikaru Suzuki discovers her innate talent and urges her to join the drama club, where her teacher declares her a prodigy actress. She consistently wins lead roles in school plays.
During a performance, she accidentally confesses her feelings to Hikaru, sparking a romance. They plan to attend high school together, but her father's job relocates the family to Kyūshū after their second year of junior high. Shortly after the move, her parents die, traumatizing her severely and erasing all pre-move memories—including her relationship with Hikaru. Despite prior promises, she never contacts him.
At 17, she unexpectedly returns to Tokyo as famous actress Sayaka Naruse, enrolling at Hikaru's high school without recognizing him. Hikaru patiently awaits her memory's return. Though she eventually recalls their past, she hides this, believing herself undeserving of forgiveness for vanishing and remaining silent.
Her turmoil peaks at a basketball tournament, where she publicly reveals her regained memories and reaffirms love for Hikaru, reuniting them after two years apart. At 18, they vow to marry after pursuing individual dreams. By 23, she achieves renown as an actress, conceives Hikaru's child, and gives birth to fraternal twins Mao and Nao—names honoring her late parents. She marries Hikaru six months later.
