Description
Isami Tatewaki, a human boy living in Tokyo, serves as the primary human protagonist in the Samurai Chapter narrative. He is the grandson of Sekishūsai Tatewaki, a kendo dojo instructor, and actively trains in swordsmanship at this family dojo. His name holds symbolic weight: "Tatewaki" means "sword-carrying" and "Isami" means "courage" or "heroism," translating aptly to "sword-carrying hero" – reflecting his samurai heritage and deeds.

The inciting incident occurs when the Predacons Budora and Gaidora attack the dojo during prayers before its sacred mirror. Recognizing the mirror as their target, Isami seizes the accompanying Legendisc and flees to protect it. Seeing the Predacons' pursuit wreaking destruction in his neighborhood, he consciously confronts them directly in a park to shield nearby children. This act of courage activates the Legendisc, summoning the Swordbot Samurai Team: Kenzan, Jinbu, and Ganoh. The disc then enables the trio to combine into a combiner form, cementing their alliance. Acknowledging his bravery and sensing a debt, the Autobots formally recruit Isami to help hunt the reactivated Predacons.

His role expands under Optimus Prime’s directive to locate the remaining Legendiscs, mystical artifacts scattered across history. He embarks on multiple time-slip journeys with the Samurai Team, encountering historical Japanese figures linked to the discs. These encounters shape him: he duels Ryōma Sakamoto (failing to secure the disc initially), defeats Musashibō Benkei in combat (earning temporary possession of a disc), and impresses master swordsman Bokuden Tsukahara with his wisdom, successfully obtaining another Legendisc. Repeated failures to retain discs upon returning to the present test his resolve, but he perseveres, drawing strength from his allies and the tenacity witnessed in figures like Benkei.

The climax unfolds as the Predacon leader Dragotron captures Isami and his ally Tobio Fūma at Mount Fuji. Dragotron absorbs both boys to harness the power of all five Legendiscs, initiating Cyberformation of the mountain. Trapped within Dragotron, Isami and Tobio utilize the "courage in their hearts" to reject the evil and expel themselves. Though initially overpowered, they replicate the Legendiscs' power through their "hearts of justice." Infused with this energy, they merge with the Samurai Team’s leader Kenzan and the Shinobi Team’s leader Gekisoumaru, enabling a triple combination with Optimus Exprime that ultimately defeats Dragotron and seals the Predacons. Following the battle, Isami reflects on the restored Mount Fuji alongside the Autobots.

Separately, a Kre-O online manga depicts a block-world iteration of Isami. In this storyline, his Kreon counterpart witnesses his Kreon Transformers toys coming to life. After an Autobot and Decepticon battle within his world, he bids farewell to the Kreons as they depart on a rocket, expressing hope for a future reunion.
