Tearju Lunatique is a highly intelligent scientist specializing in advanced biotechnology, originating from an unknown planet and educated in an extraterrestrial institution where she demonstrated exceptional aptitude from a young age. She created the artificial life form Golden Darkness, also known as Yami, using her own genetic material during her involvement with the clandestine organization Eden. Tearju personally raised Yami during her early stages, fostering a sisterly bond. When Eden sought to repurpose Yami as a weapon, Tearju fled into hiding to protect them both, remaining aware of Yami's subsequent activities as the assassin Golden Darkness after Eden's collapse.
Years later, her former academic colleague Ryoko Mikado located Tearju and informed her of Yami's presence on Earth. This prompted Tearju to relocate to Earth, taking a position as a homeroom teacher at Sainan High School to reestablish a relationship with Yami, now enrolled as "Eve."
