Description
Garudos Randall acts as regent of Atlantia, advising King Yaiba on political matters after training him since childhood. Behind a façade of loyalty, he manipulates events to gather the twelve Sword Braves and the Sword of Judgment, intending to seize its power for his own ambitions. He secretly instigated the Red Army rebellion years earlier, causing King Atlaios's death, yet maintained his trusted position. As the younger brother of Vargas, a former Sword Eyes of Light warrior, Garudos is centuries old; he stole Vargas's Sword Eye to advance his schemes, driven by a desire to surpass his brother and attain godhood.

Externally polite and respectful—even addressing enemies with honorifics—Garudos hides a ruthless, calculating nature. His Battle Spirits strategy focuses on confusing opponents through abilities that constantly refresh his spirits, avoiding direct aggression. He wields a red deck featuring key cards like The RuinDragonEmperor TheEnd-Dragonis, The ConvictionDownfallDragon Judgment-Dragonis, and The Sword of Judgment Re-Genesis. Upon seizing the Sword of Judgment, his appearance transforms: hair turns white with a green tint, purple markings emerge under his eyes, and dark red and black wings manifest alongside a black coat with red trim. This change accompanies a personality shift into pronounced arrogance and a god complex.

With the Sword of Judgment secured, Garudos betrays Yaiba, revealing his plan to destroy the world and create a new one under his rule. He merges with God, intending to use his preserved body as a divine vessel to judge humanity. In the final battle, he threatens Legendia with the "Iron Hammer of God," lowering it closer to the world each time Tsurugi loses a life. After defeat, and witnessing Yaiba kill God with the Sword, Garudos reverts to normal. He expresses regret, acknowledging he could never equal Vargas, and dies peacefully as his soul departs alongside his brother's.

In the manga adaptation, Garudos serves solely as a loyal advisor to Yaiba, lacking the backstory of fratricide or godhood ambitions and avoiding personal battles. The ancient droid Caladbolg acts as his subordinate, devouring souls like Vargas's at his command to achieve "perfection."
