Description
Aiko Muto attends Toumei High School alongside classmates Yamato Kurosawa and Mei Tachibana. She maintains a slim, athletic figure through extreme dieting, which caused visible stretch marks across her stomach that fuel ongoing insecurity. Her appearance features mid-back length auburn-brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a height of 168 cm. She wears five earrings: two red studs on her right ear and three silver hoops on her left. Before her physical change, she weighed approximately 40 pounds more, had noticeable acne, and wore curly hair held back by a black headband.

Her personality blends boldness and bluntness with underlying kindness and loyalty. Initially hostile toward Mei Tachibana due to jealousy over Yamato's affections, believing herself more deserving given their history, she evolves into a supportive friend. This change occurs after witnessing Mei defend her against bullying about her past weight and recognizing Mei's genuine distress over Yamato's actions with Megumi Kitagawa. Aiko values honesty and directly confronts injustice, challenging Yamato about his behavior toward Mei or questioning Megumi's motives.

Her background involves significant emotional struggles. She previously dated multiple boys to combat loneliness, often experiencing betrayal through infidelity. After discovering one boyfriend's cheating, Yamato comforted her, praising her natural beauty without cosmetics—a first for her. In a vulnerable state, she pleaded with him to sleep with her, and he agreed out of pity. This incident solidified her romantic attachment, leading her to lose 17 kilograms (40 pounds) in two months to gain his approval. The rapid weight loss caused her abdominal stretch marks, later a source of shame.

Her relationships reflect her development. Her fixation on Yamato subsides as she accepts his commitment to Mei, transitioning into a genuine friendship with both. She later dates Masashi Tachikawa, who knew her during her heavier appearance and unconditionally accepts her body, including her stretch marks. Masashi becomes the only person she reveals her insecurities to without reservation. Her friendships extend to Asami Oikawa, whom she defends when Megumi yells at her, showcasing her protective loyalty.

Her name Aiko means "love, affection" (愛) and "child" (子), while her surname Mutō translates to "warrior wisteria," etymologically linked to the Fujiwara clan. Aiko stands taller than Mei Tachibana.
