Description
Norbu, grandson of a local Tibetan village herbalist, sells traditional remedies and lives with his grandfather. He becomes Tenzin's closest friend after Tenzin arrives from the city, helping him adjust to rural life by sharing his knowledge of the local environment and customs.

When an unidentified predator kills livestock and men, Norbu joins the investigation with Tenzin. He stands with Tenzin to defend the Tibetan mastiff Doji against accusations from a bandit chieftain blaming the dog for the attacks.

Norbu later accompanies Tenzin and Doji on a journey into the high mountains seeking safety. Nomadic groups they meet reveal the true predator is Rakshasa, a monstrous entity. During the confrontation with Rakshasa, Norbu witnesses Doji sacrifice himself to save both boys.

Following these events, Norbu remains by Tenzin's side as they move forward, with Tenzin raising Doji's puppies. Norbu's actions reflect his loyalty and his place within the community.
