TV-Series
Description
Yoshitake Tanaka attends Sanada North High School as a member of Class 2-A and stands as one of three central figures in the series. He possesses fair skin, a slim build, and olive-brown eyes. His spiky blond hair sweeps backward, complementing his typical untucked school uniform shirt worn without a tie, creating a rebellious look. Childhood flashbacks show him with dark brown hair, though his Rubber Shooter persona maintained the spiked style.

During elementary school at East Yada Elementary, Yoshitake and friends invented the superhero "Rubber Shooter" to shield bullied children, notably rescuing Hidenori Tabata from bullies roughly eight years prior. Embarrassing childhood moments, such as soiling his pants during play, were often mistakenly blamed on classmates like Mitsuo. He met Tadakuni in junior school and Hidenori in middle school, forming their core trio.

Yoshitake displays a fun-loving, energetic personality, enthusiastically joining the trio's imaginative games. Despite his rebellious appearance, he acts level-headed and quick-thinking, using his athleticism to outmaneuver peers during games like Kick the Can. A competitive streak surfaces, like faking injury to win a ghost story contest. Though prone to dramatic outbursts, he can lie convincingly with a straight face. He holds strong convictions about friendship, deliberating on actions that "stay true" to friends and growing irritated when feelings are toyed with.

He frequently adopts diverse personas in role-playing scenarios:
- The Captain: A genial knight crew leader with a deep voice.
- Markovich: An excitable, high-pitched crew member ending sentences with "-ssu!".
- Yoshī C. Tenryūji: An uncooperative singer-songwriter radio guest antagonizing mothers.
- Various fantasy avatars: Narrator, damage-alert system, monster, and demon lord mid-boss in Tadakuni's adventures.

Yoshitake holds an undisclosed part-time job and has an older sister at Central High; their relationship includes conflict due to her violent tendencies. His commitment to friendship stems from his childhood role as Rubber Shooter, reflecting an enduring sense of righteousness. He appears in 56 of 139 manga chapters (including extras), ranking as the second most featured character after Hidenori.

His Virgo zodiac sign (birthdate between August 23–September 22) is shared with Hidenori. He placed 7th in a character popularity poll with 5,916 votes. His surname "Tanaka" combines "rice field" (田) and "middle" (中), while "Yoshitake" in katakana (ヨシタケ) derives from kanji like "lucky/righteous" (吉/義) and "mountain/strong" (岳/毅).
