OVA
Description
Mouri Shin is the oldest of the five Ronin Warriors and serves as the Warrior of Water. He wears the Armor of Torrent, which represents the element of water and the virtue of shin, meaning faith or trust. His weapon is a trident whose prongs can close, allowing him to grab opponents or cut through obstacles, and his primary finishing move is the Super Wave Smasher, a powerful burst of water. In water, his armor is especially strong and grants him immunity to poison and venom.

Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture near the sea, Shin grew up with a deep attachment to water and nature. His father died when he was young, his mother is a famous potter who is often ill, and he has an older sister named Sayoko. The Ronin Warriors, along with their allies Mia and Yuli, become like a family to him, and he shares a particularly close friendship with Kento Rei Fang. Shin is the calmest and most level-headed member of the group, often disliking conflict despite being a skilled warrior. He is gentle, compassionate, and trusts his friends and allies implicitly. However, when innocent lives are threatened or when he is pushed too far, his anger becomes a fearsome force.

In the television series and subsequent OVAs, Shin initially shows no hesitation in fighting against the Evil Dynasty, but as the story progresses, he begins to question and resist the burdens of being a Ronin Warrior. This inner conflict is explored in the later arcs, especially in the OVA Legend of the Inferno Armor, where he and his fellow warriors confront a mysterious black copy of the Inferno armor that corrupts their own armors. The warriors must purify the Inferno armor to overcome this threat. In the third OVA, Message, Shin receives a new suit of armor and upgraded powers, though the full extent of these new abilities remains unknown. His main opponent throughout the series is Sekhmet, the Dark Warlord of Venom.

Shin’s role in the story is that of a loyal protector whose strength flows from trust, empathy, and his bond with water. He is often the voice of reason within the group, and his calm demeanor balances the more impulsive personalities of his comrades. His motivations are rooted in protecting his friends and the innocent, and he holds a great care for nature, especially the sea, believing that water is the element of life.
