Description
Kuroneko, a black cat, endures societal prejudice fueled by superstitions linking his kind to misfortune. He initially grapples with deep feelings of unfairness over these negative perceptions. A pivotal shift occurs when a mentor reveals that an elderly black cat currently reigns as King of Cats, offering Kuroneko hope and validation that temporarily eases his distress about the stigma of his fur.

His journey leads him to an encounter with the figure he believes is the feline monarch. This figure is later unmasked as the human teacher, Juri Kibayashi. Instead of the affirmation he sought, Kibayashi specifically praises Kuroneko for his exceptionally dark, pitch-black fur. She explains its unique value: his intense "pechschwarz" coloration makes him an ideal conduit for curses and spiritual energy, particularly useful as a reinforcing medium during her spirit channeling sessions. This utilitarian assessment directly contradicts Kuroneko's desire for acceptance separate from superstition, deepening his disappointment.

Kuroneko's experiences extend into broader supernatural elements within the series' world, including an encounter with three space cats, the We Wanna Conquer Earth Squad, who arrive with ambitions to establish dominion. Throughout these events, his core narrative role involves repeated utilization by Kibayashi for her occult practices, leveraging his perceived metaphysical properties as a pitch-black living being. This persistent use as a spiritual tool underscores the central conflict between his personal identity and how others define him through supernatural attributes.

Kuroneko's interactions consistently frame the tension between his longing for normalcy and the external forces that perceive him solely through a supernatural lens. His character arc revolves around these encounters and utilizations, situated within the series' exploration of occult themes and societal perceptions.
