Description
Chihiro Kusaka presents as male, adopting the surname Kusaka over Kusakabe. She has brown hair, blue eyes, and typically wears a purple t-shirt with a yellow symbol, black pants, and a white-and-blue cap bearing the same insignia. Her personality blends artistic sensitivity with competitive drive in card battles; quiet and gentle by nature, she displays strategic condescension. Passionate about art, she aspires to be a spirit designer, often sketching spirits during duels. This dream led her to temporarily abandon her sketchbook, an action reversed when Tegamaru found it and reignited her motivation, forging their friendship.

As a member of Team Tegamaru, she uses a white burst deck and enforces Tegamaru's rule requiring opponents to defeat both her and Kobushi first. She clashed with Hajime using Tegamaru's deck, losing but contesting the defeat's validity due to Hajime not using his own cards. Defeated in the Hero Championship's red preliminary block, she did not advance to the High Ranker League. Familial conflict escalated when her parents arranged a marriage demanding she abandon her career, prompting her to flee home and inadvertently revealing her biological gender to Hajime and others. She subsequently battled Tegamaru, winning the right to live independently and pursue her goals. Following Tegamaru's acquisition of Amaterasu-Dragon and his alienation of the team during the world tournament, she and Kobushi suffered distress over his changed demeanor. After Tegamaru's championship victory, she briefly returned to her parents before Kimari summoned her to facilitate a battle between Tegamaru and Hajime. The series concludes with Tegamaru reconciling with her and Kobushi, incorporating their key spirits into his deck and reaffirming Team Tegamaru's bond. He gifts her a new sketchbook, symbolizing her resumed commitment to spirit design.

Her deck features spirits including Dolphing, Sailfish, Buster-Fenrircannon, Raccoonguard, Ezono-Owl, Mibrock Soldier, The IceHero Mibrock-Baragan, Mibrock-Genius, Mibrock-Patrol, Serizawand-Duck, Mibrock-the-One, and The CharismaHero Mibrock-Braver, alongside braves like Kotetsu-Tiger. Nexus and magic cards comprise The Freezing WaterFalls, Burst Wall, Crystallize Illusion, Triple Stab, Dimension Sword, Glacial Slash, Dream Ribbon, Dream Chest, and Mist Curtain. Her documented battle record shows a loss to Hajime in episode 5, a loss to Kimari in episode 17, and a victory against Tegamaru in episode 31.

She frequently blushes around Tegamaru, implying romantic feelings tacitly endorsed by her parents. Her bond with Kobushi centers on mutual loyalty to Team Tegamaru and shared concern over Tegamaru's shifts. An instant fanclub, the Chihiro Elite Guard, formed around her perceived pretty boy appearance, though some observers correctly guessed her true gender.
