TV-Series
Description
Gin Tachibana is a former student of Alcalá de Henares from the nation of Tres España, where she served as the third special agent on the student council. Following her defeat by key members of the Musashi Ariadust Academy, she and her husband, Muneshige Tachibana, relocated to Musashi and took up positions as assistants to the vice-chancellor.
In appearance, Gin is a short young woman, standing approximately 150 centimeters tall, with purple hair cut to neck length and dark green eyes. Her most distinctive features are her large, fully prosthetic arms, which have a cross-shaped design and are capable of storing and deploying her weaponry. She typically wears the standard uniform of Tres España along with an officer's hat, though she dislikes standing next to her husband while wearing it because it accentuates her short stature. Despite her mechanical limbs, the rest of her body remains organic.
Her personality often mirrors the robotic nature of her arms, as she tends to speak in a flat, monotone voice and frequently wears a blank, expressionless face that makes her seem like an automaton. Beneath this exterior, however, she possesses a deeply human side, particularly in her devotion to caring for her husband Muneshige, attending to his needs whenever possible. She is also somewhat clueless about the world and prone to misunderstanding situations.
The background of Gin Tachibana is rooted in the traditions of the Tachibana household, which was renowned for its martial prowess. Trained from childhood by her strict father to eventually become the head of the clan, Gin dedicated her life to becoming as strong as possible, as inheriting the family name was her sole reason for existing. She was initially meant to marry a man who would take the Tachibana name, but she found the candidate, a talkative and weak mail carrier, to be bothersome. Her annoyance grew into hatred when she learned this man intended to claim the name Muneshige Tachibana for himself, leading her to repeatedly beat him with a wooden sword and even poison his food, yet he continued to return to her each time. Ultimately, the two engaged in a duel to determine their roles in the Historical Reenactment, during which Muneshige cut off both of Gin's arms to defeat her, and she subsequently became his wife as the one who would inherit the name Ginchiyo Tachibana.
Within the story, Gin serves as a formidable combatant and a constant companion to her husband. She participates in the escort of the Pope-President Innocentius during the journey to Mikawa and later helps nurse Muneshige back to health after his severe injuries in battle against Tadakatsu Honda. When the academy of Alcalá de Henares moved to strip Muneshige of his position as first special agent following his defeat, Gin presented a proposal to the student council: she would fight against the forces of Musashi herself to restore her husband's status. This led to her engagement with the Musashi fleet during the war of the Armada, where she specifically sought out and fought Futayo Honda, the person responsible for her husband's earlier defeat, though the battle ultimately ended in a stalemate.
The most significant relationship in Gin's life is with her husband, Muneshige Tachibana. Despite the violent and unusual circumstances that brought them together, she is deeply caring and protective of him, looking after his health and fighting to restore his honor. A key relationship that develops is with Futayo Honda, as their origins are similar and Muneshige once asked Futayo to help Gin deal with complex problems, with Gin later remarking that she was more complex than any other woman.
In terms of development, Gin transitions from a rival and enemy of the Musashi crew to an ally who affiliates with them after her defeat, taking on a new role as an assistant to the vice-chancellor. Her journey involves moving from a person who existed solely for the sake of inheriting her family's name to someone who fights for her husband's sake and finds a new place within the Musashi community.
Regarding her abilities, Gin boasts very high firepower and is known as a Style Master and Versatile Prosthetic Body User. Her prosthetic arms allow her to summon a large artillery system seemingly from nowhere. She also uses an acceleration system similar to her husband's, though not to the same extent. Her weapons include Cross-Shaped Twin Swords, a pair of double swords deployed from each of her arms that can be detached and spun like rotary saws to block attacks, as well as the Arcabuz Cruz, a pair of cross-shaped firearms she uses for long-ranged combat.
