Konzen Douji served as a minor deity in Heaven's bureaucracy and was the nephew of the Merciful Goddess Kanzeon Bosatsu. He later reincarnated as Genjo Sanzo. His celestial existence was defined by profound boredom and dissatisfaction, manifesting in tedious clerical work involving obsessive, precise document stamping. Despite his high status, he remained unfulfilled, adopting a detached, arrogant, and irritable demeanor. He initially possessed no worldly knowledge, rendering him emotionally underdeveloped and "pure," with an aversion to smiling or social interaction. This stagnation shattered when Kanzeon Bosatsu tasked him with guarding a golden-eyed "heretical child" named Goku, brought from the lower world. The child's immediate fascination with Konzen's hair, comparing it to the sun, forged an unexpected bond. Despite initial resistance, Konzen developed deep paternal affection for Goku, revealing a capacity for gentleness and fierce protectiveness. This relationship spurred his emotional growth, driving him to confront his self-perceived inadequacies and strive to become the "sun-like" figure Goku saw. His development was further shaped by camaraderie with Marshal Tenpou and General Kenren of Heaven's Western Army. Their friendship drew him from isolation, fostering genuine smiles through shared activities like baseball. Tenpou revealed Heaven's corruption, eroding Konzen's complacency. Learning that the official Li Touten planned to manipulate Goku and the War Prince Nataku as political tools ignited Konzen's resolve to act. When Nataku, under duress, attacked Goku and then took his own life, Goku's trauma shattered his power-limiting diadem, transforming him into the berserk Seiten Taisei who massacred celestial forces. Konzen intervened to protect Goku, physically confronting the vastly more powerful Kanzeon Bosatsu and vowing to shield the child at all costs. This defiance, alongside Tenpou and Kenren, branded them enemies of Heaven. The quartet attempted to flee to the lower world, pursued by forces blaming them for Li Touten's assassination of the Jade Emperor. During the escape, Konzen ensured Goku's safety by securing his passage through a dimensional gate to Earth. With his final act, Konzen promised Goku they would meet again in another life, declaring he would reach out next time. He perished fulfilling this sacrifice. Five centuries later, Konzen reincarnated as Genjo Sanzo, who fulfilled the promise by freeing Goku from Mount Gogyou. Konzen possessed long golden hair, violet eyes, and androgynous beauty, strongly resembling Sanzo and often eliciting sun comparisons. His celestial robes, distinct in white or purple color, featured design elements echoed in Sanzo's attire, like black under-armor and gloves with gold detailing.
