Description
Nakua originates as a spider goddess who once protected Sasanaki city and mainland Japan, receiving human sacrifices from worshipers in exchange for divine protection before this practice diminished. She typically inhabits shrine basements, like the one beneath Hiro's school, devouring students drawn by ghost stories under the claim this arrangement safeguards the institution. Nakua favors manifesting as a high school girl, initially of average height but growing visibly shorter throughout the series. Her appearance consistently features black hair and a standard school uniform, though she has also been depicted in traditional Japanese garments at her shrine and a snowsuit during time manipulation. She displays a generally indifferent or upset demeanor that shifts to calmer and more expressive in her spin-off.

Her abilities include secreting silk, summoning large spiders, and transforming her hair into spider legs potent enough to pin large demons even when weakened. Nakua commands lesser spider demons and can generate more if required, though her capacity to summon a gigantic demonic spider seems limited—it appeared dead after one use and never returned. Her most significant power is space-time manipulation, demonstrated by sending Hime and allies 2000 years into the past while observing them from a separate dimensional space. She can also walk on vertical surfaces and teleport between shrines across Japan at will.

Initially an antagonist after attacks by Riza and Reiri, Nakua punished Hime's group by transporting them to the Ice Age. Following her defeat, she reappeared weakened at another school facing an invading evil god. She allied with Hime to defeat this threat, teaching Hime a method to slay evil gods—a technique lethal to herself. This act convinced Hime of Nakua's non-hostile intent, leading to an offer for Nakua to reside in a shrine near Hime's mansion. There, Nakua ceased demanding human sacrifices, accepting alternative offerings like sweets made by Sawawa. Her fate after Hime relocated post the final battle with Sylvia remains unmentioned.

Nakua stars in the spin-off "Naqua-den," partnering with Tarou Kanda, a high school boy hosting her injured servant spirit, Taroumaru. Together they protect Japan from rogue gods and titans, battling threats such as invading "Aregami" repelled during Setsubun using power gathered from townsfolk, destroying a sea-dwelling Umi-bouzu with a ghost ship bomb, and rescuing abducted children from a sky-dwelling Torai-shin. The series introduces allies like the wolf-demon Ginko and explores Nakua's efforts to purify corrupted deities. Influenced by Taroumaru, she exhibits Big Eater traits while maintaining her signature space-time and spider-based powers, operating independently of the main "Princess Resurrection" cast.
